Piece of advice, wrap this around piping when it's plugged in, on and warm. I did the first half of it when it was cold outside (about 20 degrees), and unplugged. It was a huge struggle. I finally plugged it in, and once it warmed up, and it definitely gets pretty warm, it became a wet noodle to work with, which makes is significantly easier to wrap it tightly around pipes. I didn't use the provided tape, rather I used an entire roll of electrical tape to bind it to the pipes tight. So far, no frozen pipes, and a very nice piece of mind. I would recommend

This is lower power than the heat pads, and outdoor rated. I have it under some straw to help keep the cat warmer during these cold days coming up. It's got a thermostat built in for regulating and turning on at specific temps, however, I have an additional control on mine to turn it off once it's above freezing outside or the internal temp of the cat house hits 50. Very low power compared to other heating options out there. Ill probably get another one of these to setup for the chicken waterers I have on the property as well so Im not spending a ton in heating this year.
