This is my second pair of these boots and they are my favorite hiking boot. The leather and sole last a very long time, 2 years of average use including walking on pavement. Both mens and women’s run very narrow. I am a female with a wide foot, especially in the toe box area with a bunion on big toe and pinky side as well. I wear the men’s wide and they are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. Not only for the width, but for the support in the tread and footbed. I also have high arches and these are great support. When you tighten the area around the ankle they stay tight and add support and they are very warm. Some might find them a little too warm in summer.

I've been hiking/hashing on the weekends for the past few months on Ascension Island. The terrain is volcanic rock, ash and lots of scoria and cinder... pretty tough on any shoe. Before I bought these boots, I was using Vibram Minimus shoes for my hikes/hashes...lol. I have been wearing those for about six months, and I could feel every rock and pebble I stepped on, not to mention the Mexican thorn bushes... those thorns would pierce right through the Vibrams. Also, I would have to stop about every 5 minutes and empty my shoes of all the loose rock that manged to get inside. So, after suffering many months of hiking without the proper shoe, I decided it was time for a proper hiking boot.I have to do all my shopping online, because I'm on a tiny remote volcanic island. I looked at lots of boots here on Amazon, and thought these were the most aesthetically pleasing, but did not know how they would actually feel or protect me out in the wild. The day finally came when the boots arrived on our weekly mail plane. Hooray! Within the first 30 seconds of wearing them, I knew I had found the perfect boot. They were the most comfortable shoe I had ever worn and I thought the ankle support was great. My feet felt extremely snug, but not squished or overcrowded. I wear a size 10.5 and that is what I ordered. This boot fit exactly like a 10.5... not too big, and not too small. Just perfect. I ordered these with Wigwam socks and I also ordered the Fox River socks. Both brands of socks are great, and go well with this boot.I went out this past Saturday to break them in, and I was thrilled... I went places and did things that I would never dare to do with just my little Vibram Minimus shoes on. I ended up climbing a scoria cone (called Red Hill) all the way to the top, in very loose gravel... and with great ease. I didn't get one piece of rock (clinker) in my boot, and my feet were extremely comfortable the entire time (about two hours). Not once did I feel any pain; my feet felt really good, which if I were still in my Vibrams, I would not be able to make such a statement.Yes, I know, I've managed to compare a hiking boot to a walking shoe in this review, but, that is the truth behind this story.Even though I bought these with my weekend treks in mind, I found myself wearing them to work this week. I love them that much. I'm buying a second pair so I have one pair just for work and one just for the weekends. And of course, I will be stocking up on the Wigwam and Fox River socks. On-On!

I didn't know what to expect. I've owned a few upper end different hiking shoe brands. So far i love these the most. I can't see how they could fit better. Probably not everyone is going to say that as feet differ. Maybe I got lucky. There's a lot to like about these. Definitely quality shoes. Love the arch, the insole is comfortable in spite of the hard outsole which I love. I saw that at least one person thought they were too hard. But that's what I like when hiking. I don't like feeling rocks. And still they have an amazing comfort. Someone said they were too heavy, I don't see how. These are on par with my old Keens as far as weight. But at least a cut above in quality. The do run a little narrow . Considering that I ordered a 1/2 size up. Perfect! They come with lots of tread too. Only time will tell. Only 4 stars because I haven't field tested them. Update: Very disappointed. Not waterproof, While hiking i got them wet in a bog. Water didn't rise 1/2 way up the gussets on either side of the tongue. Down grade to 3 stars. Update: Oboz czme through with warranty fulfillment! 5 stars.

Oboz by far, in my humble opinion, makes the best hiking boot. In my experience, they are easily broken in and do not cause foot injuries during initial use like some other do. I've owned and walked out two prior pair and they are the only boot I will use.

I'm someone who has a hard time finding boots or shoes that fit me well. I have what could be classified as Flintstone feet. I normally wear 4E width shoes.I went to a local sporting goods store and tried on various brands and types and at the recommendation the Oboz Bridger. Unfortunately the only pair that they had in my size was the display pair and they wouldn't sell them, so I bought through Amazon.I got my boots and they were pretty stiff out of the box, I had initial regrets. But, I wore them for a week to start breaking them in. Each time they were more comfortable.I decided to be brave and went for a 2.5 mile hike in them. Normally (because of my wide feet) I get blisters on the outside of my big toe and my heel. I expected this, but I experienced no discomfort, no hot spots and no blisters!!! First time I can remember going for a hike of that distance with zero problems. Now that I've shared that experience I'll talk about the boot. The tread is aggressive and great for Colorado outdoors in the snow, ice and mud. They are advertised as waterproof and I stepped in several puddles while my feet stayed dry. The inserts are amazingly comfortable and provide great arch support. The stitcthing is quality and evenly spaced. If I had to pick one area of concern it would have to be the laces as they are not as thick or heavy duty as on other boots I have owned, but only time will tell in terms of their durability.Oboz has earned a new customer for life with this product.

Very comfortable, lightweight, locks the heel in place, easy to tie up, extreme grip on rough terrain, and took no time at all to break in.

I bought these after being disappointed, again, by quality shortcomings with Merrell shoes and boots. These appear to be of much higher quality, solid and well made. So far they are firm underfoot but, supportive and comfortable. Cannot comment on waterproofing as have not been out in wet weather yet, when wearing these boots. Will add to this review when the boots have had a lot more use, early signs are good.Edit: Have been using these for nearly three months now, everyday. Support and comfort continues to be excellent, they keep my feet dry and appear to be wearing well with no signs of any build quality issues. I WILL be buying these boots again.PS, I bought size 13, not 8 as stated above.
