I was setting up a family member's home office and needed a new chair mat as soon as possible to protect the floor. This chair mat ended up being delayed, so I ordered a different chair mat that I thought might replace it. That didn't turn out to be the case. The other chair mat arrived and it was thin and no matter what I did, it wouldn't flatten. It also seemed prone to cracking. This mat arrived on a bitter cold snowy day. They suggest you warm it up first, but I was able to unroll it without warming it up. I put it on the floor with heavy objects for 2 days, and it looked completely flattened. However, after removing the heavy objects, it started curling again in just a few hours. I put back on the heavy objects and am still waiting to see if it flattens. The instructions say it could take, "hours" but it's been almost a week. The other suggestion is to use a hair dryer if curling still occurs, but I don't even have a hair dryer. I waited even more time, and it finally flattened enough that I don't worry about it being a tripping hazard. This mat has a gripper side for the rug and a smooth side for the chair to glide on. It is also a great thickness.I really like the thickness and gripper on this mat, but both chair mats I got have problems with flattening after being tightly rolled for so long.

First, the tightly rolled plastic mat was difficult to unroll. I followed the comments and stood it over a heat vent to get it to relax, then laid it on the floor and used a heating pad to "iron" it.Second, once unrolled and with my chair on it, it wasn't stiff enough and my chair wheels embedded in it. Its a little better than being directly on the carpet, but not much

The mat comes rolled up, so you'll want to lay it flat under some heavy objects for a day or two. Once it's flattened, it works as it should. I do wish it was a little thicker as the wheels of the chair seem to be sinking into it which makes it a little harder to roll, but nothing too difficult. It's the perfect size for under our 52" long desk and super easy to clean spills from.

The slip resistance is great. My chair moves around perfectly.

This 40x48" chair mat has been a game-changer for my home office carpeted floor. Initially, unrolling it was a bit of a wrestling match – it arrived tightly coiled and seemed to have a mind of its own. However, I employed a tried-and-true method: I stacked a hefty pile of books on it for a day, and voila! It flattened out nicely, with no stubborn curls or bumps. The mat itself is supposedly made of a sturdy synthetic plastic that feels remarkably durable. I've had my fair share of flimsy, thin mats that cracked, chipped, and developed disturbing chair roller "valleys" over time. I'm hopeful that this one's robust Cybstrax construction will resist such wear and tear, maintaining its smooth surface for years to come. One of the most noticeable improvements over my previous mat is how effortlessly my office chair glides across it. There's no sticking, no catching – just smooth, fluid movement. And unlike cheaper mats that tend to shift and slide around, this one stays firmly in place, even during intense work sessions. My old mat was an ongoing source of frustration, with its chipping edges and ever-deepening cracks. It's such a relief to have a chair mat that simply does its job without any fuss. While it's still early, I'm very satisfied with this purchase so far. If you're tired of battling with subpar chair mats, I highly recommend giving this one a try – just be prepared for a bit of a workout when you first unroll it!

comes tightly rolled up took 3 people to uncoil it so it could even be layed on the floor to have box's put onto of it . I've reviewed a few Floor Protectors , Hardwood/carpet so it loses 2 stars for not being shipping un Coil'd . placing my computer chair in the center it rolls back and forth well but that doesn't give back for the days to week/2 it will have to be covered in box's till it learns to stay flat and not coiled up . i have about 200- 300 pounds of box's between the 4 sides and smaller box's in the parts in-between to stop it from coiling up .Side Note this isn't for Thick Pile carpet , has very short Nubs so for Low/medium pile carpet so this along with another chair mat will be Layer'd to spread out the Caster wheel load so it won't crack or split with time .
