They are plastic, yet strong enough for average needs. Space is big enough for a ream of copy paper but not much else (except the top shelf which can obviously hold more). Keeps my everyday files and materials organized. Might sag with too much weight (college textbook) but for light to medium everyday storage, it is fine. It is $15 bucks. If you need something stronger, then don't go cheap and complain.

When I originally searched for these at an office supply store, I was shocked at the price for just two trays. There was also only one option.I purchased this set --- 3 times as many trays---for the same price and they have worked out perfectly. They look nice, they're sturdy, and the price is reasonable.

These are fine for stacking simple papers, but I bought them thinking they'd be a good desktop solution for Lego instruction manuals. Still paper, right? But the trouble is, if you stack them, this product doesn't hold weight well. The shelves bow under the weight of anything stacked close to their vertical clearance, which, by the way, isn't as much as I'd like it to be.If you're just planning on using these to process intermittent work that comes in and out, then they'll be great. You wouldn't want it to hold a lot anyway in that case. But if you plan on keeping persistent stacks of things in them for storage and retrieval, and the stacks will be thick, then you might want something sturdier than these.I'm still using them for my purpose, but eventually I'll need to replace them with something that holds weight better. Also I think I'd have preferred something more solid across the back, so that smaller papers can't slip out that way - but this can be seen in the product photo, so it's not like I didn't know before buying.

As I took it out of the box I notice their is a broken pecie, I haven't stacked them because I am gonna return, but they are very thin and flimsy. I wouldn't recommend for anything heavy. I seen one picture where they do have a very heavy binder on it but it is at the very bottom. If you need something for heavy files or books this is not the one to pick. For me I just needed something to set my paper art pieces to dry.Edit: the first set I recieved must have been used and returned, because it was packed in a plastic bag with an inspected by sticker on it. This one came in a new box and packed securely. Kind of upset that amzon sells used items like this. But none where broken. Like I said before if your paper, book, or what ever you plan to use them make sure it is not heavy it will break them. This will work for me and I am happy they replaced them quickly.

LOVE these! I used them to organize my child’s homeschool books by subject. They are sturdy and stack nicely. Great price!

I purchased the shelves to hold printing paper and other paper and files directly under my printer for easy access and to have them organized and neat. The shelves fit perfectly and the printing papers etc are in place. My only complaint is the center of the shelves sags a bit when I placed the papers in and is not sturdy enough to hold more than a few pages of paper or files flat. I needed shelving to hold much more than that. This may not be a problem for everyone however with my printer the paper must be placed evenly in the printer to avoid problems such as the pages getting stuck or the printer shutting down. Otherwise, a good price, very easy to assemble, and delivery was early as usual with Amazon Prime.

I set up two stacks of three trays on my one side of my L-shaped office desk. Then I bought a 4-foot by 1 foot shelf and balanced it on top. Now I have extra room for my phone, trays, cups, sticky notes, and other stuff. Really helps with organization. I keep my most-used forms in the trays, so no need to dig through my filing cabinets. And the space below the shelf, between the two stacks helps hide my power strip and charging cables.
