So pre-drill a hole that's a smaller diameter than the SHAFT part of the threads (not including threads), and you'll end up with a nice snug/tight installation without fear of splitting wood. That done, these are plenty strong for most anchoring points needed around a domestic environment (and even SOME commercial applications). It all depends on the type and quality of wood screwed into, and how deep. With that, I'm off to do some drilling and screwing... 5 stars from me.

I have a set of the stainless finish version, I wanted these black versions for mounting where I want the hook to be less visible when in use. They are shipped in a plastic bag and bash around against each other, which chips away at the black coating. I'm going to try and touch it up a bit to cover the shiny spots. They could use a better packaging method, even cardboard would do.The screw is a bit odd, the tip is just a point - not the usual threaded tip. So drilling a starter hole is required to get these going in, but they are great beyond that.Tip - you can find driver bits for these large hooks, with this much threading a drill driver is a real help.

Used these to put up a car cover on the side of my house and they work great. Easy to screw into the tree that's holding them and are extremely durable.

These are very nice eye screws, not cheap looking at all. I used them as a medium security measure on a temporary tool shed I have made out of wood that needs something like this screwed in DEEP so I can run a decent padlock thru the holes. Worked out well for my needs. If anyone wants to break in, they will need a grinder and not just a prybar. But most folks will probably be wanting these for hanging something pretty heavy. The seller says the are rated at 1000 lbs and I am not going to argue as they look like quality forgings. There is one problem with that rating and it is NOT the screw itself. If you are going to hang a heavy item with these, be sure to find out how to install them properly. Just a guess but, a pine beam won't be able to hold that 1000 pounds and the threads are likely to pull out if screwed in straight up and the load hanging straight down. Mounting the screws at an angle to the load will probably help but, AGAIN, find out for yourself. I am NOT saying this stuff as advice. I am hoping my thoughts urge YOU to do your due diligence so you or your loved ones don't get hurt. Yes, these screws are very strong but, due to them screwing directly into wood and relying on just the threads to hold a load is a tricky thing to get right. If you don't feel comfortable installing these then you might want to see if this seller has a similar eye screw with a nut and washer system to hold them in place. I'm giving these a 5 star rating because they are very strong and have worked perfectly for my situation.

Very nice looking eye bolts in black. Seem like great quality and durable. Looks way better than chrome. Easy to install when you pre-drill a hole a little smaller.

I would expect good quality hardware such as screw eyes or hooks would be able to bend. These must be over hardened because I got very little bend before it snapped when I stress tested it.

These eye hooks are solid and easily able to hold a hammock.I like the design that keeps the eye from any possibility, under normal load, of being pulled open. Even when in 4x4 posts, they are solid against any of the off axis pull on the shank. These eye hooks are not, however, what any U.S.A. translation should call "self tapping". Compared to an actual "self tapping" deck screw (see picture), it is obvious that it requires drilling a hole (I found 5/16" to be best). I didn't find any means of tightening these other than using a long screwdriver (or similar long, solid item) through the eye to rotate the hook in. While I don't think they intended to claim this is "self tapping", I still need to rate it down a star because it clearly isn't.Overall, I think these eye hooks are well designed for their purpose, but expect to drill a 5/16" (or similar) size hole in order to install them.

Thes 6.3 inch eye hooks from brand OHIYO are almost overkill for what I do consider to be a pretty heavy duty trail hammock that I own, and find the ropes do not always have a place to be cinched. So I sourced this option, and these will be an amazing alternative when options for setup are slim. They are a bit heavy, but well they should be considering they are suspending a large body of weight in the air by just ropes. I am glad they are so durably constructed, and am glad to have them in my kit for this purpose. 5 stars.

These OHIYO eyebolts in the 6.3 inch length variant are just over $31 CAD at time of review for the four pack, which is honestly less than what I'd expect to pay for eyebolts of this quality at my local hardware store. They're very well made and quite long, allowing for solid anchoring deep into an object. I'm adding them to my fence as attachment points, and the extra length allows me to have them stick further out from the post. There is no way the aggressive threads on these will pull out; I strongly suspect you'd break the very solid eye itself first. They're coated as well, though it will take months or longer to fully know how well they will stand up to the elements; there is no visible chipping, flaking, or missed spots though. Manufacturer claims an 850 lb capacity, but that I have not tested.

Well made. Very strong and sturdy. Got these to hang a cargo net on our fence for the kids to climb and it has worked splendidly.

I have an egg chair i tied to one of these that I drilled into a 2x8 joist stud in the ceiling. Holds my weight solid and I'm 200lbs+

these are a great set of super sturdy eye hooks. for most practical home applications these are going to be more than enough to meet the needs so long as proper care is taken to install them correctly in accordance with the material they are being fixed into.just what i needed for my hammock pitch in the garden.
