I have to say the quality of this reel far surpassed its price point. The drag is smooth, the clicker sounds great and it seems very well built. The only negative thing is that it was a little smaller than I was hoping for but that is on me since I chose the 4/5 over the 5/6. The 4/5 would be better suited for a 3wt in my opinion not the 5 wt I got it for, so just be mindful. Other than that I really love the reel and I have gotten a few emails from the company proceeding my purchase so I can tell they really stand by their product. I would 100% recommend

This reel is incredibly solid for the money. 55 yards of backing and 85 feet of fly line on a 4wt reel and the thing hums. Having the option to set the drag or using the exposed edge of the spool to control the drag is really nice when playing a bigger fish or adjusting quickly to a a more aggressive fish. The only thing that has been a tiny bit disappointing is the handle is much darker than in the image... I was hoping to see the wood grain, but it's just about as dark as the reel.Very rugged reel that can take a beating and balances nicely with my 4wt Echo Carbon.

Haven't had a chance to fish this yet, so these are first impressions of craftsmanship. Will update if I notice any defects on the water. It looks and feels well constructed with a smooth reeling mechanism. The machined spool releases easily and attaches just as easily so this should be a good reel if you want to interchange lines. The drag is a small adjustment knob (above the actual arbor; pinched between thumb and forefinger). It is somewhat insignificant but also about a three quarter turn takes you from no drag to full up which makes for a nice adjustment on the hook set.My only complaint is that the drag is quite loud. I own an okuma SLV 789 for my saltwater setup, and it has a fairly quiet drag so I did not expect this. I find this quite annoying, especially when I am fishing with other fellows who don't appreciate the sound of drag getting ripped off (FISH ON) or spooky native trout. Otherwise I would have given it five stars. For the price, an all around good little product. Holds about 200 yards of backing and the entirety of a rio mainstream #4 line with no problem.

Nice reel and a great price. About 50% off MSRP!I won't pay more than $25 for a reel unless it's for large hard running fish or saltwater species where you need a serious reel. So I normally buy used. The great discount here allowed me to get a new reel for my price point.I got the S-7/8 model. It's for a 7wt line. I'm using it for a 6wt and using the extra space for a bit more backing. It'll handle 99% of the freshwater fish you'll catch with no problem.I'm using it on my 5/6wt 10' river and lake rod. It allowed me to transfer my venerable old Pflueger Medalist to my 4wt 6-1/2' brook and creek rod.The reel is easy to set up for right or left hand retrieve. It even comes with a tool for the job. Got to love the Taiwanese. The drag is easy to adjust as well.

I have purchased these Okuma reels from Amazon across recent years. They are very nice, machined well, and have very close manufacturers' tolerances. Care in assembly and tolerances are much better than on some of the Chinese reels, even though many of those are very good with even lower prices. I use Sierra 5/6 with longer rods for line weights 5 and 6; I use Sierra 4/5 for line weighted 3 or 4. The drag systems can be adjusted for casting and settings or for stronger fish that take out line to escape the fly-fisherman!

I've never seen the need to put a ton of money into a fly reel for my style fishing. It really doesn't do anything but hold the line after all. The Sierra seems to be built of solid materials and doesn't weight a ton. So far it's done everything I could ask.

I bought the 5/6 reel for my Euro Nymph setup because I needed a heavier reel to balance my 10ft 3wt. This worked great and I am very pleased with the quality and feel of the reel for such a cheap price! I may get separate spools now for some other 5/6 weight applications like a sinking line for my 6wt.

THIS IS NOT AN 7/8 WT REEL, THE REAL IS TINY,IT HAS A CHEAP CLICK PAW DRAGPAINT ON THE REEL IS BUBLED FROM MANUFACTURER DEFECTonly worth $30 at most, dont bother wasting your money herethe real is better suited for 3/4 wtalso the product has a cheap drag system, and is basically an over priced click paw reel.when contacting amazon they make you JUMP THROUGH A BUNCH OF HOOPS because..."ITS A THIRD PARTY SELLER" blah blah blah GARBAGE!!this is false marketing and predatory sales for sure. Fell apart first time using it, I won’t ever buy a Okuma reel again, I bought a level wind reel 10 years ago from Okuma, and after a few months, it corroded apart, completely useless for serious fishing! Then I bought this new fly reel from Okuma, and the spool fell out while I was fishing by a river, and fell into the river! Useless piece of #%$&
