I bought this for my six year old grandson. It might seem too advanced for a kid of that age, but he loves it and is able to use it without help. Of course his dad gets in there also and enjoys the experience with him, it is a "toy" with years of enjoyment ahead for learning and play.

Great product. It is fairly simple with no real frills, but if you are looking for a well-built microscope that simply works well and won't break, this is a great choice.
