Bought this as an experiment to see if it would really work with both a chamfer and round over router bit. Getting tired of seeing the air in the shop filled with the dust when edge routing and ending up spending almost as much time cleaning up the shop as doing work. I was pleasantly surprised by how effective the hood is at keeping the dust to a minimum but guess that I shouldn't have been based on the quality of the other Oneida products that I have in the shop. This hood works great.

I would say for my hand held router 98% of the dust it handled.Easy to install and use.The dust shroud that covers the bit area is a little flimsy but im not sure how i would improve on it. A good product for the $$

I have installed it in a router table using a Jessem router lift with a Porter-Cable router. The pictures show how the base fits on top of the Jessem lift plate where there is a small space below the router table. It fits well, no loss of vertical adjustment, no change in procedure for changing bits (I have to remove the router motor to change bits using this lift). Have used it for some test cuts on curved pieces using a piloted router bit where my fence vacuum system couldn't be used and it does a fantastic job of dust collection. No visible dust on the table or on the floor. When doing stopped dadoes on the table, dust collection still 100%. When doing through dadoes on the table, some dust escapes especially at the beginning and the end of the cut. When using the fence for edge routing on a horizontally oriented piece, I use the combination of the Oneida collector without the oval shroud and through-the-fence vacuum with 1 dust collector attached to each port, getting >90% collection, depending on what size bit is in use. On the occaisional edge routing job on a vertically oriented piece, I can utilize the oval shroud along with the through the fence system and get again complete collection.I have not used it on a handheld router yet, but I anticipate it will give me good, but not perfect dust collection on edge cuts. Dadoes cut with an edge guide will probably be the toughest test with dust escaping from the end, especially at the beginning and end of the cut.Thinking of getting a second one for the handheld router so I don't have to disassemble my router table every time.Game changer for me. Home Run, Oneida!

This should not be advertised as compatible with the dewalt dwp611. While the dust hood installs and works as advertised, the dust hose attachment prevents the router from being lowered all the way. It makes it impossible to use bearing guide chamfer and roundover bits unless you are comfortable only partially inserting the cutter shank into the chuck, which I am not. My photo shows the lowest a common chamfer bit can be lowered, it's not even close to being useful, even with some partial shank insertion.

Under ideal conditions it works pretty well but overall it’s a pain. I use it on a Bosch 1617 full size router. Trying to figure out which holes fit the router was the first challenge and the directions weren’t much help. I’m glad I had a centering spacer. I know Bosch makes their own dust collection attachments but they are often twice as expensive and I was trying to save a few bucks. When in use it works pretty well on edge routing after you get the cup installed, but it only fits well around medium/small bit. First use was to cut T&G grooves on cedar fence boards. The wide blade of the bit barely fit inside the cup and collected about 40% of the dust.I’ve used it a bunch since then on multiple style bits with varied results. Anytime I’ve used this without the cup, away from the edge of the board it gets clogged quickly and becomes useless. The most annoying details are it’s size and fragile parts. My router won’t fit back in the case with this attached and I don’t want to spend a bunch of time detaching it and re-attaching it because I use my router daily. As a result my router is floating around my tiny shop.If you plan to do only edge routing or your model router doesn’t have other options available for dust collection, this is better than nothing. Other than that, it’s not the one.

I used this when cutting out 66-inch semi-circles from 3/4 inch MDF sheet goods with a 5/16 spiral cut bit. Normally that would produce a lot of dust but this attachment captured almost all of it. TheShallow Chip Cover also worked very well with a round-over bit on the edge. I started with a long 2.5 inch vacuum hose but I felt that was too much weight on the connection between the Dust Dome and the Hose Connect. That connection is pretty delicate and I was afraid it would break. I was more comfortable with a 1.5 inch hose and the smaller shop vac did just as well as the bigger one.

I have 10+ year old workhorse Porter Cable router that is in fine shape, but dust collection is now paramount in my workshop so it was either the Oneida or several hundred dollars for a new router. The router hood was simple to install, and when combined with a Festool Midi dust extractor it eliminated the dust and chips 100% on 1/2" dados. Two caveats though:1) The hood does not fit the Festool hose that is standard on most of their product now. Both were the same diameter. I went to home depot and found a connector in the plumbing dept. for less than $4.00 that I affixed permanently to the router hood with a zip tie. The other end fits the Festool perfectly so the changes are quick and easy.2). The Oneida base plate is two-piece, so it is much thicker than the original, it lessens the total depth you can get in a plunge cut. More importantly, since it is two-piece, there is some flexibility in the base and you have to remember to really bear down to make sure you are getting an accurate depth of cut.Other than that, fantastic product. Highly recommended.

I just installed this on my Canadian Tire Maximum router and it works great. I am not sure how long these plastic parts will last with the pressure of the hose always putting a little pressure them.

Idea is superb - yet to use but if as its advertised it shoukd be great. Bit disappointed with quality of materials used but once again yet to use so may be ok. Delivery slightly delayed but only by a few days. If it works like it should id have to give it 5*

This does not fit the Makita RP2301FC router. The hole pattern is fine. The problem is the dust collection part. It does not fit thru the base. Otherwise this is a really good product.
