Research says that blue light (emitted by electronics and many LED book lights) promotes wakefulness. When I wake up in the middle of the night, reading helps me to get back to sleep. I've found I can fall back to sleep more quickly using this light. It's less disturbing and doesn't wake me as much as my previous LED book light. It's a little heavy for clipping to a book, but the flat battery case and/or the clip makes it easy to use just about anywhere. I often tuck mine beside me on my pillow and sometimes use only one light. The flexible, heavy-duty wire makes it easy to direct the light anywhere you need it. The on/off switch on top of each light is a little stiff, but other than that, it's a terrific book light--I'm happy I bought it.Update... There's one small fault with these lights, regular store-bought replacement batteries don't seem to work in them so I've been putting up with a dying set of batteries for a long time! Fortunately, I figured out a solution... If you compare the batteries that came with the light to those you buy in the store, you'll see that on the positive end, the silver bump is taller and more pronounced on the batteries that come with the light. The problem is that regular store bought batteries don't stick up as high (on the positive tip) so they fail to make contact with the wiring at the top end of the battery case (the positive end). I'd say this is a fault with the product. However you can fix this issue if you're careful. I used a tiny flat screwdriver (the size used to adjust eyeglasses) and slipped it under the wires at the top of the case. Bend the contact wire ever-so-slightly downward so it can make contact with the replacement batteries--repeat this step with each of the the battery slots. You have to be careful not to exert too much pressure or you can bust the plastic that holds the wiring. Don't bother trying to stretch out the springs at the bottom of the case. I tried that first and it didn't help the batteries make enough contact at the top. It's the wires at the top of the case that are the problem. Someone else suggested adding a little foil on the end of the battery to make contact. Don't do it, I tried it and the batteries heated up extremely fast and became hot to the touch--NOT a good long term solution. « Show Less

On-Stage brand products are just better. The lights reach out longer than the competitor's models. Four bulbs in each lamp and you can switch them to red light for less audience distraction. There's three other models of music stand lights to choose from. On-Stage also sells replacement parts for some of their products. The model LED510, with ten bulbs, is especially bright. You can also switch the brightness to half. Uses batteries but works best if you plug it in. You'll pay more - but get more!

These are designed for use by musicians and DJ’s it seems. I’m actually a park ranger and I was looking for some low cost red lensed lights to use in the cab of my truck during my night patrols (this helps preserve your eyes “night vision†as opposed to standard white lights). The lights stay secure enough when using the clip to grip the sun visor, and the adjustable necks are nice. The switches for each light are on the backside of each light head - not the most ideal spot for how I’m using them, which again, is not their intended use. If the manufacturer decides to make another version, I’d recommend a push switch or toggle switch for both lights somewhere on or near the battery compartment. Also, the battery compartment cover slides off very easily - I might have a looser than normal one, not sure without another unit to compare it against. With all that being said, I’m happy with my purchase, especially for the price point and the fact I’m using it for something it wasn’t designed for.

I have this clipped on a shelf in my music production studio and use it when I work late at night to light my keyboard better. It's run by batteries and also comes in real handy when the power goes out. The red light is quite bright, and lights the work area perfectly. You can also turn on each light individually if you want less coverage. Well worth the price !!!! Planning to buy one in white as well !

Mostly, this is a really good light for late night reading. I like the size, brightness level, and it clips nicely to books. Would give it 5 stars except it has an issue where I'll switch it off, put it on my nightstand, and then in the middle of the night it will turn on again. The switch shows as off. I toggle it back and forth and it just does NOT want to turn off. If I'm coordinated enough in the middle of the night, I pull out the batteries, otherwise I just get annoyed and throw it under the bed; then the batteries die because I forget about it until the next time I want to read.Probably not a problem for responsible people that don't fall asleep with books on their faces, but my sleeping partner is not a fan of the random lights turning on in the middle of the night.

I bought this to use as a reading light while hog hunting. I needed to be in my hunting stand before dark but then had to wait about 2 hours before the window of time the hogs usually came around. I wanted to be able to read a book but needed a low amount of light (to not make it obvious that I was in the stand), and a red light (to try to not mess with my eyes seeing in the dark). This worked great. It was bright enough to read by, even with only one of the two lights turned on and it lasted for hours (longer than I stayed out in the stand).I have no complaints about this other than it, like too much stuff we get, is made in China.

Great product for the price at the time. Went to order one more the next day and the price went from $24 to $38. Although it is a great product for astrophotography, it is now overpriced. I will be looking for something similar for a lower price.Update: The price of this product is back to selling for just under $24 which is a good price for this item . Just placed an order for one more as is works great for astrophotography
