The orange color is a bit unusual. Most felts I've purchased in the past have been dark gray or medium gray. At least half of the felts will be hidden anyway, so felt color is something I've never given any thought until now.Physically these function very similarly to others, though there are a few differences. Some of the felts are a little crooked due to how the layers are combined. In terms of density and thickness, I'd say these are pretty average.I play with hi-hat, ride and two crash cymbals. Many drummers I've played with use even more cymbals than that. I feel that my setup should be considered pretty standard, so I'm not sure why this kit doesn't come with two more felts. Maybe it's like the hot dog and bun conundrum. Who knows.I'm glad I have these, but I don't think I would go out of my way to make a special buy just to have orange felts.

This kit covers most all the bases, from crash/ride cymbals to hi-hat. They’re firm-feeling out of the bag, as cymbal felts should be.There are however quite a few caveats:- The bottom hi-hat felt is about half the thickness it should be, not “industry standard”.- The gluing job is sloppy in places on every felt.In fact, there’s really no physical reason for using two glued halves other than to simply obtain a multi-color appearance in the first place. They’re likely to separate under stress eventually, and most will be out of view anyway.Lastly, if you shop around you’ll find much better packages at around the same cost. Some include cymbal sleeves, more felts, wing nuts, and even drum keys. That in mind, I have to say this package is way overpriced. It’s always good to have some extra cymbal felts around, so I’ll likely just be keeping these in my gig bag as spares. Quality cymbals are by far the most expensive components of any drum kit, and with that in mind I wouldn’t recommend them for long-term use.

You can get a bigger felt kit for less money, but what mostly sets these apart is the firmness of the felt. It's subtle, but it gives the cymbals a crisper sound....less "garbage lid" sounding. You only hear what the cymbal is supposed to sound like and not extraneous vibrations that interfere with crisp and tight sound. The softer felt seems to let more of the extraneous sounds stand out more prominently. If you're just into loud rock-type music, then you probably won't notice much of a difference with these. But if you're playing softer/quieter kind of music like jazz or blues or folky stuff, the improved sound might be more noticeable. I also liked the unique color scheme.

These cymbal felts are pretty cool. They look great with my black kit. For the price though, I think you should get more felts. There’s only enough to do one hi hat and two cymbals. If you have a ride or any accent cymbals you’ll need to buy at least three packs of these. The quality is also not worth the cost. They are not glued together great. One of the hi hat clutch felts split in two where the colors meet. This worked out though since they are almost twice as thick as any other hi hat clutch felt. I couldn’t get two of these thick felts to fit on the clutch anyway. The bottom hi hat felt is on the thin side compared to others I’ve used. I’d recommend these for a beginner with only two cymbals and a hi hat looking to add a pop of color to their kit.

The glue used to hold the two felts together came undone. I would like to return them but amazon wants $7.99 for UPS pick-up. Soon this review will be crossed out, and amazon will say they will handle it. But, they don't. Amazon new customer service policy is, no customer service.

I picked up a 2nd hand drum kit a few months ago and this felt set was perfect for a full refresh of its old materials. Exactly the parts needed for 2 cymbals and a hi hat. The orange sections of the felt have a little more dark fuzzies from the black pieces that as pictured, but that takes a pretty close look (and disassembly to reveal some of the surfaces).A few of my old felts were in even worse shape than I realized, so I'm glad I updated. But I also learned I've got 2 sleeves that are in bad shape - would be nice if EHWD had a felt set that included some of those too.
