For that reason, it is very common to see them at golf courses and commercial properties, although you will see them in residential applications, too. The valve is made of durable brass, including the lid which prevents debris from entering the valve. The durable O-rings are serviceable and replaceable. The inlet threads are 3/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT). Typical installation is on a 3/4-inch riser from a 3/4-inch mainline (continuously pressurized) tee or elbow fitting. It is common to place a 7- or 10-inch round valve box, with lid at grade level, over the valve. The double lug valve key has a durable brass body and a steel handle. Insert it into the valve and turn clockwise to turn the water on, and counterclockwise to turn it off. The outlet threads of the key are 3/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT). You can adapt it to hose thread with a 3/4-inch FPT x 3/4-inch MHT brass hose-to-thread fitting, making sure to apply pipe tape to the MPT threads on the quick coupler. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water only.
