Running a 14TB ex-datacenter HDD from this. Was able to initialize, allocate and format without issue. Currently running it as a testbed for my home security.Only been in use a few days, but works well so far.

Every so often I need some temporary backup space for OS upgrades and so forth, and this item affords minimal intrusion for a 3.5 in. HDD. I had tried using large SD cards that, of course, are even smaller, but their performance was lacking. I knew from using a "lay flat" external HDD adapter that the HDD would give me adequate performance and this unit emphasizes the footprint in the vertical rather than horizontal, which works better for me.

I've tried several 2-bay docks and this is the only one that I have not returned. All the other docks I've tried suffered performance issues under sustained loads. The ORICO is the only one that didn't have this problem and I've put it under sustained load for several weeks. However, there is one feature that prevents me from giving this dock 5 stars - the power button. Unfortunately the power button on this dock is a "momentary" button and not a physical on/off switch. This means, if the dock temporarily loses power, it will not turn back on unless someone manually toggles the switch. Other than this issue, this is a great 2-bay dock.

I have used this docking station with Windows and macOS and it works perfectly. I was able to partition drives (diskpart) and initialize and format them. Using my drives in docking station worked perfectly. I also liked that they provided both types of USB connectors. Good product.

Performance matters. Is it really USB 3.2 Gen 1? I doubt.

Very convenient. Easily recognized by my computer and has good firm sitting. At the same time, it is easy to remove. It is good to have two ports which allow two HDs the same time to interactions and transfers as needed.

Typical Orico EXCEPT this is a new generation of 'solid body' with a TEENY WEENY HDD LED that takes A MINUTE to display! I kept thinking the unit was DEAD. No. I had to put labels reading "VERY SLOW to start up. CONNECT, TURN ON, GO FOR COFFEE." But speeds are similar to our 3-4-5 year old Orico USB 3.12's.

Plug & Play in less than a minute. Consistent 200MB+ write speed with a Seagate Exos X16 for large files (32GB) on USB-C (SS 5 port) in Alienware R15.

Using to backup data onto multiple older but still active disk drives. Works well. Would recommend.

Works well and as fast as the old mechanical hard drives can read/write. I use the USB C port on the computer to get the best transfer speeds.
