My old hallway emergency exit fixture’s battery died of old age. When I looked for a replacement battery, I discovered that a new battery would be $42. I looked for an alternative and found this LED Emergency Exit Lighting Fixture about half the price of a replacement battery. This made for an easy decision. The new emergency lighting fixture is packaged in a cardboard box and includes three wire nuts, a ceiling mounting plate, a junction box mounting plate, an extra exit sign to allow front and back exit signage, a set of short and long mounting screws, a set of nuts, a handful of inserts to block out the exit direction as needed, and an instruction sheet. Some minor assemble is needed to mount the side lights to the exit sign. This exit sign can be powered from 120 VAC (white wire) or from 277 VAC (red wire). Be sure and put a wirenut on the unused power lead. Once mounted and connected to AC power, you need to connect the battery to the control board. The emergency lighting fixture needs to charge the internal battery for a few hours before you can do the self-test. It takes at least a full day to fully charge the battery. I tested the emergency lighting fixture to see how long it can provide emergency lighting based on a few charge cycles. After a 48-hour charge, the emergency lighting fixture provided emergency lighting for 174 minutes which exceeds the manufacture specifications of >90 minutes. The battery in this emergency lighting fixture is a 1000 Ma 3.6v Ni-Cd (nickel-cadmium) battery. It would have been better if they used the more environmentally friendly NiMh (Nickel-metal hydride) battery instead of the Ni-Cd battery. The listing stated that the standby power consumption was 3 watts but I measured it at 5 watts. Maybe the green LEDs draw more power than red LEDs. Energy wise this device draws very little current. I am very pleased with the performance of this device. It is smaller than the original unit; the battery life exceeds the manufacturer’s specifications; and was easy to mount in place of the old unit. If you are looking for an economical LED Emergency Exit Lighting Fixture, I am sure you will be happy with this device.

I had a far less functional use for this than many, but decided I needed a bit of garage decor. I put this above the secondary door to the garage as part of my mechanic-shop style decorations. That said, I didn't wire it up to actually light up, as this would have required either paying someone to add a fixture or replacing one of my LED garage lights. It does have battery backup, but again, I haven't messed with it. It came with clear instructions for both mounting and wiring, and the housing also holds the emergency lights should you choose to install them.Overall, I'm happy with the way the project turned out and this is well put-together. I'll snap a photo when I have a chance to do so -- but wanted to make sure to get this posted!

What can I say, it’s an exit sign. But if you have older exit signs that still run off of AA or similar batteries and they are incandescent lighting these are a great upgrade and a lot more energy efficient. They tend to be brighter because of the LED lights inside of them then illuminate the exit sign, as well as the safety lights that are on the side. If your exit sign does not have the safety lights on the side I highly recommend upgrading to this style, for it provides a lot better lighting in emergency situations. Very easy to install and very easy to get the lighting in the direction that you want.

I have a workshop located about 300 feet from our home and have always wanted some emergency exit lights to put in it. Thankfully, there was an electrical circuit I could tap into right where this needed to go, so installation was very easy.I like the green color much better than the old-fashioned red that is more common. I noticed a couple of reviewers had quality issues, but for me everything worked fine. The sign is very attractive, and we are pleased.

Once connected, the pressed the disconnect switch to do a check, the device would not fully release resulting in the sign to start smoking.
