An extra long drop onto a concrete surface and a bad bounce broke the ear of my Oster 76 clipper body, bent the top plate, and damaged the power switch. After sitting down with the parts, a few tools, and clipper oil/grease, I was back to fully functional clippers in about an hour. This is probably the biggest disassembly job you can do on this clipper. One specialty tool that you will need is a pair of internal snap ring pliers (ASIN : B000JNRR0Y). I used a small drill to remove the front bearing oil valve, going in through the exhaust port, penetrating the plastic bearing housing and then tapping it out backwards using the drill bit for a punch (or just buy one ASIN: B00FJEMM2G). DO NOT miss your opportunity to lubricate the rear bearing of the motor while the clipper is completely apart. Just slide out the armature, clean off the old goo on the bearing surface of the armature rod and lube it and the internal bearing. This Oster 76 clipper is a quality commercial product and having the replacement parts quickly available and reasonably priced fully justifies the extra expense when initially purchasing this clipper. Search Youtube for videos to help you.BIG TIP: Clipper growls after the switchover in certain positions? Don’t miss moving over the very hard to see tiny fiber plate that presses on the end of the motor shaft on the gearbox side of the armature. It keeps the armature secure. If you miss it, the clipper will growl at you when you tilt it in certain directions.

My A% clippers are from the 1970's I've maintained them well but dropped them a few years ago, I lived with a cracked housing for years with tape, but finally failed. this replacement was easy to use and saved me over $100 on an otherwise perfect clipper. This speaks more to Oster's continued commitment to quality and serviceability than anything else.

Ok... I read the Q&A section and one of the questions was about the spring oil ball on the front side. Yes you need to take it out of your old clippers, but it was really easy to do and easy to reinstall.Everything fit like it should and I'm so happy I ordered the new casing as well as the brushes and other maintenance items for it.My clippers run like new for 35$.The one recommendation I have is to get the right tools. Your clipper has a split ring washer to take out and put back in. You WILL hurt your self if you don't have the right tools.Also take your time to clean out the hair and use some 000 steel wool to clean up your motor.Don't forget to grease the parts that need it or your clipper will get hot and probably burn up the motor.

Just remember to remove the washer that goes below the plastic gear and oil port from old housing and install on new one. I just broke the old housing with a hammer to get the oil port out.

It is 5a oster body, only comes external part. Its great when you have all good inside.
