Perfect for the jobs I bought it for. A recent fire took most of my tools. So I'm replacing the items I frequently used in the past. Insurance covered about a third and reimburses me whenever I replace a lost item. This has proved a durable tool and a nice bargain. Since I am a retired mechanic the tools I am purchasing to replace those lost in the fire, don't need to be the name brand high dollar items I previously owned. But this could have handled those jobs as well. Identical to tool truck item in every way except cost.

Bought this for packing wheel bearings on trailers. I have always pounded axle seals in with a hammer and block of wood. Which works fine. But when pounding in bearing races this kit comes in REAL HANDY. In the past when installing races I ground the old race down slightly and used it to pound the new race in. This was time consuming and there was always the risk of getting the old race stuck in the hub. This kit contains 8 different sizes of aluminum discs to accommodate a wide variety of popular race and seal sizes. Worth the money if you have a lot of trailers to pack wheel bearings on.

I purchased this set to drive in bearing races. I tend to use the plates without the handle but with a hydraulic press. They work brilliantly.I've also used the kit for pressing in/out axle seals and with other pullers to install spherical bearings in suspension uprights. No problems at all.The parts are well finished, have no sharp edges and fit the components I'm working with. The case is convenient for storage and for keeping the plates in size order.Overall it has proven to be a very useful kit and I would happily recommend it.

One of the discs I received with the kit was machined improperly. I bought the kit to facilitate installing new front axle bearings in my Toyota pickup. The two sizes I needed were the 1.965" and the 2.555" discs. I tested the fit by matching up the discs to the bearing races, but the 2.555" disc bottomed out on the side of the race instead of fitting flush against the face/rim. The 1.965" disc fit perfectly. I emailed OTC/Bosch Tech support and they responded quickly (kudos to OTC for that), but their response was basically that the discs are what they are and not meant to be a custom fit for any particular application. Tech support further told me that I could have the disc machined at my expense to fit my particular application or use the next size down (probably would have worked, but less contact surface is not ideal). Now I get that the discs aren't supposed to be customized to an application, but I did expect them to be more of a universal fit for something as common as a Toyota pickup. I took a chance and ordered a similar standalone 2.555' disk from Lisle Corp (# 12650) to see if my suspicions were right about the machining and the Lisle disc fit the race perfectly. I own other OTC products and they are typically outstanding, but this one is going back. I'm sure I just got unlikely with OTC's quality control, but it would have been nice for OTC to send me a replacement disc instead of forcing me to go to a competitor. My $0.02.

Really nice seal/bearing driver kit. Used it this weekend to replace the seals and bearing races on my Polaris ATV. I would give it 5/5 but I just worry about the longevity of the shaft for the driver. It is a little dented after some hammering. For my home use I don't think it will ever break but if its something you use every day it might be a concern in the long term. Otherwise, its very nice, well made and comes in a good case. For the average user it will probably last a lifetime.

Forget about replacing the hub or doing a 1/2 A....... job by not replacing the races when changing out the bearings. This tool made the job effortless, the hardest part was knocking out the old races but it wasn't too hard. I used a good flathead and a 5 pound hammer, two or three hits knocked them right out. Setting the new ones was so easy with this tool, it drives them in all the way and does it evenly. It's alluminum so it won't mess up the steel race surface but isn't too soft whre it'll fall apart after using a few times

I picked these up to drive in some bearings and seals and they worked great. I drove the bearings in with a three pound sledge hammer and everything held up great. The machining on these was done really well and the case holds them all in very tight. Can't wait to use them again!
