  • Capacity of a Water Softener How many gallons a softener will approximately make depends on the hardness of the water source and your water usage. To figure out the approximate capacity of your unit, take the grains of the unit (Standard 8,000/Double 16,000) and divide that by the grains per gallon (GPG) of the water source. Double Standard Softener 16,000 / 11 GPG = 1,454 gallons 16,000 / 58 GPG= 275 gallons

I purchased this for my horse barn. I use it to wash the horses and in the summer for our misters. We have extremely hard water. Our water would clog up our misters in 1 day and has almost ruined our portable propane water heater. This softener was very easy to put together and softened the water immediately. It's super easy to use and move around. The fact that it only takes 1 small canister of table salt is AWESOME! I will buy another one for traveling in our horse trailer with living quarters!

If you have an RV, then you need this water softener. I had a softener from a different company that advised it was 16,000 grain. It did not soften the hard waters of Arizona and New Mexico. Come to find out, it was only a 10,000 grain. I have camped in the western states where the water is extremely hard, and On-The-Go gave me perfect soft water. I tested it often, and it remained soft for weeks. I have issues with calcium clogging my RV fixtures. Highly recommend you have a water filter inline also.

I am staying a campground for 3 months with VERY hard water. After receiving the water softener, tried a test strip and it was the highest rating for hardness. After putting the water softner in place, changed to the lowest level on the test strips. You can feel it on your hands and see the results with soap and shampoo. Bottom line, it works! Looks easy to regenerate with table salt too.Happy I made this purchase.

We have a seasonal site with very hard well water that stained everything in the camper. Tested the water hardness with the test strips that came included and hardness was over 500 ppm. Hooked it up easily and hardness dropped to under 40 ppm. Excellent product so far. It even kill the smell of the water. Hence the 4 star rating. I will change to 5 star if it works as advertised.

After dealing with a calcified shower head and rust stains in the toilet of my new trailer, I went ahead and purchased this portable water softener. It's a bit heavy but was easy to install and fairly compact. I went ahead and purchased hose quick connections to attach to the softener to make installation even easier. After hooking it up with a filter in line, there is a noticeable difference in water quality. Would recommend this unit to others.
