the glass is EXTREMELY thin and fragile. I broke the first one when I reinstalled the bulb cover. They are even more fragile than the old ordinary incandescent bulbs. Just be aware of that and the fragments are tiny and SHARP... I had to shut the stove down at the breaker box to remove the broken bulb. BUT it was my fault for assuming that this evidently light weight bulb was the same composition as in the 'old days'. It works and it is bright and that is all that matters I guess. Just be aware and be very careful replacing the cover, be SURE to do that because this bulb uncovered could shatter at the slightest bump and destroy your food. I think I will remove it before I use the self clean feature on my stove too, just to be safe.
