Maybe it will stretch over time but the tailgate does not lay flat like it did with 25year old cables. 2000 sierra 1500 extended cab

Nearly 5 stars but one was slightly shorter than the other, causing all weight of tailgate to be on one cable, maybe the other will stretch, otherwise nice product. good price.

While they were inexpensive, you pay for what you get. I found that they’re not quite the same length, so one side is stiff and the other till has a little slack in it. The other issue I found is that one of the cables will not fold properly as the tailgate is closed, and it ends up sticking out through the gap between the bed and the tailgate. It’s a little annoying but again I’m not going to bother returning them.

I liked the straps they worked great at a great price point. If they break and I dent my tailgate I'm going to be mad

Works well on my 1998 Chevrolet truck. Hard to tell if they will last but you cannot beat the price. If they wear out I will buy another pair.
