I ordered this PANDAFLY Drawing Sketching Pencil Set because of the wide variety of hardnesses of the set and because I've had good experiences with this brand previously. And this set delivers.The graphite pencils come in such a good variety of hardnesses, so you can get the blackest black with the 14B (I tried this one first) to fine, light grey lines with the hardest. I haven't experienced any issues with any of the graphite pencils - they're great to draw and sketch with, and I've used them on both mixed media paper with light tooth and very smooth bristol paper. I was very happy with the results of all the pencils.Let's talk about the charcoal pencils. I pulled out my black watercolor paper and the white charcoal pencil for a spin. It's semi-opaque on the black paper, and you could do some beautiful, moody drawings with it. It's not fully opaque like a gel pen, and that makes for a beautiful effect in my drawings. The other charcoal pencils are nice, nothing special except they're not very dusty, which I appreciate. They have a rougher feel on paper, of course, but overall I was quite happy with them.I rarely use erasers, but for the sake of reviewing this set, I tried both erasers. The vinyl eraser doesn't seem like vinyl to me, but it does a pretty good job erasing the pencils. Of course, if you erase a large amount of the darkest pencils, you may have to clean the eraser as you go. The kneaded eraser is stickier on the outside and a bit firmer than other kneaded erasers I've used, but it worked fine, didn't damage the paper's surface, and removed the pencil marks fine.I was surprised to discover that I really like the sharpener. It made a fine point better than lot of small sharpeners, so I'll definitely be using it. The blending stumps work fine for smudging both the graphite and charcoal pencils on the paper, although the hardest pencils will smudge the least, just as you'd expect.One thing that didn't please me was the packaging. When I pulled the (very flimsy) tray sideways out of the box, moving past the cardboard pushed 3 pencils out of their fitted spots and into the box, which is also pretty flimsy. Disappointingly, the box and tray aren't going to be a long-term solution for me - I usually leave my colored pencil and pencil sets in their original tins or boxes permanently, but the fliminess here will get annoying (well, it already is), particularly since pulling the tray out pushes some pencils out of their fitted spots.Overall, love the graphite pencils and the many hardnesses in the set that lets me sketch and draw with a nice variety of tiny, fine lines to thick blocky swaths of black. Very nice. I didn't run into any pencils with scratchy bits, and the points aren't breaking. Love the sharpener, really like the white charcoal pencil on black paper - so beautiful. The black charcoal pencils, both erasers and the blending stumps are good, work well, and I'll definitely use them in the future.Let me talk about my scoring. The box and tray were the only downside, and while I would have take off a star, the price they charge for this set is such a good value that I put the star right back, so 5 stars for usabilty and feel, 3 1/2 star packaging, 5 stars for variety and 5 stars for value as the set is currently $7.99 (I got these in exchange for a review, but have not ever been contacted by PANDAFLY at all). That equals 4.625 stars, so since I can't give it 4 1/2 stars, I'm rounding up because I really enjoy this set.

This is an absolutely brilliant starter set for any artist. I am extremely happy with it. When I moved, I lost my expensive set of pencils. So I was very happy to see this set and was happy to try it. This is actually a very great set. All the pencils are very smooth and I love the array of hardness on them. This set goes beyond what I used to see in sets when I started drawing. The charcoal works great as well. I have seen no issues with any of the tools in the set. But the packaging could use a little bit of work. I have a pencil box to put these in, but some people might not. The packaging is very flimsy. However, with the value of what you get in here with the price, this is an amazing deal. This set goes beyond what other starter sets have to offer, and the quality is great here. Recommend!

This Pandafly drawing/sketching set came in perfect condition. All the graphic pencils were pre-sharpened to a good point with no breakage. The package included a range of pencils from very hard to very soft, a hard and a soft charcoal stick, a plastic eraser, a putty eraser, a two hole hand held sharpener to make sharp or blunt points, and a blender stub. So this kit contains everything a beginning to intermediate artist will need to draw, sketch, and write.For those not familiar with the numbering system of graphite pencils, I will provide a brief guide. The numbering goes from 14B (softest) to 4H (hardest) , for a total of 14 pencils. the numbers included are (from softest to hardest):14B 12B 10B 8B 6B 4B 3B 2B B HB H 2H 3H 4HA standard #2 pencil for writing is equivalent to the B pencil in this set.As for the included erasers, the PVC one is a standard plastic eraser, and it does fine job for clean erasing. The kneadable eraser is soft, like putty, and can be stretched and compressed to form points, rounded surfaces, and other shapes to help with erasing. It also can be kneaded to bury graphite or charcoal smudges inside the eraser, leaving a clean surface for further erasure. The plastic eraser is better at removing darker pencil marks. The kneadable eraser is better at picking up excess graphite. Both worked as expected.The charcoal sticks are much softer than the softest graphite pencil, although the two charcoal sticks in this set were not very different. They were not very good, either. One of the pencil points (the 10B) snapped off the first time I tried it. I used the sharpener's wide hole to create a new point, but portions of the core got stuck within the sharpener, and I had to use a paper clip to remove them. The sharpener is an inexpensive one, and I expect the blades will dull quickly. The blending stump was a standard paper one that can be sharpened with a piece of sandpaper (not included).All in all, this set is great for a beginner, and has plenty of uses for the intermediate artist as well, and I recommend this set for them. The storage tray is flimsy plastic, though, rather than a nice metal tin, but at this price, I can't quibble. I'm including a picture of the results after using all the drawing tools and the blending stub.

The different hardnesses of the graphite pencils perform the way I would expect them to- so they are the right hardness that is listed! I have primarily been using the graphite pencils and both erasers. The kneading eraser is my favorite because it is perfect for partial erasing, and you can shape it into a fine point for precision erasing, but the rubber eraser works great too for larger areas. The black charcoals also work well, but I have not used the white charcoals because I do not have any black paper currently (other than occasionally using the softest white for highlights- which it does work well for!)It seems like some other reviewers had issue with the packaging but the box/tray work perfectly well for me to keep all the pencils organized. It is not a super heavy duty tray but I haven’t had any issues sliding it in and out of the box and the pencils have not spilled. I plan to keep them in the original box because that is easy and it is working perfectly well for me.
