It makes tiny round holes. Seems to be sturdy enough. I have punched through up to 2mm leather with it. It does kind of stick into the leather a bit at that thickness and you have to wiggle the prong a little to get it out. If you don't want huge gaping holes around your thread, this tool is an option. The thinner the leather, the better it works. I will probably use this for entire projects but would only recommend that if you have patience and hand strength. Probably best for leather jewelry type projects more than anything else.

These are perfect to put holes in my leather earrings. I use 2-3 mm leather so it’s not paper thin. I punch hole then move back and forth while still on the spike then press again and move back and forth to remove. I use 7 and 8 mm stainless steal jump rings and they fit perfectly I am buying a second pair today for a backup

Works great, would love a locking clip to hold shut.

This is exactly what I was looking for to punch tiny stitching holes in thin (2-3oz) leather. Yes, it sticks in the leather until you get the hang of it (don't squeeze it all the way shut, it still makes a hole and barely sticks at all.) It makes smaller holes and protects my hand better than my much more expensive tiny hole punch. Is it perfect? no. If just the prong was stainless steel it would probably be a much better punch, but it does work and you don't have to worry about the "play" that you get in a multiple sized hole punch.

Needle part bent and broke within first day of usage on metal bottle cap crafts. It is still usable but not as sharp or small of a diameter hole, now.

I LOVE this little punch! I make jewelry and print out my own display cards. This punch is perfect for making holes in my display cards from which earrings hang. It easily punches thru 5 or 6 layers of 65# card stock. It has pierced thru 7 layers of 65# stock but that puts more pressure on the point than I'm comfortable with. Because its such a small punch, with careless handling, the 1mm point could bend or break off. When I first received the pliers, the piercing point didn't perfectly line up with the hole on the other side of the pliers but using slight pressure I was able to bend the point just a hair so now it lines up perfectly and pierces my card stock beautifully. For my needs, this little guy is perfect!

Good for making tiny holes in leather or other materials. Durable enough for crafters.

This tool gets the job done. My only wish is that it could lock shut with the spike protected.

Perfect for what I need it for! Thanks! The punch is just a sharp point, very small hole, and don't need a lot of pressure to make thebhole.

Construction is crude, but it is very cheap. It is worth buying if you want to grind it to bring it up to scratch.
