Great solution. All metal design without using plastic for gear parts which is what originally failed....this is simpler and more robust than the original and worked perfectly, saving a $2300 dealer charge to unnecessarily replace the entire electronic parking brake module.You need an OBD code reader/actuator to reset the electronic parking brake dash warning light, clear the electronic parking brake error code, and re-activate the control module. I used Foxwell NT510 unit to do that, it came pre-loaded with BMW coding. Relatively straight forward job.

Part was an upgrade of the plastic sprocket/metal worm gear original part, which still lasted 21 years. Emergency parking brake is back to working perfectly with this actuator gear. Delivered in 48 hours.

This fit perfectly in my 7. Very well made and now I have my parking brake back. Couldn’t believe such an expensive car (I purchased it new in 2003) would have a plastic gear for such an important function. Luckily mine failed while at my local mechanic so we figured out how to disengage it so I could drive the car. An expensive repair at the dealer($2,300 from some online quotes I saw) turned into a $29 one with this part.

This is a great part. I watched many YouTube videos to learn how to install. I saved a lot of money. The original part is made of plastic and had fell apart. The original Actuator had a red spacer. I did not use the red spacer when I installed the new part. I used a scan tool to clear the code.
