Works great! Automatically detected by Windows 11 and the driver automatically loaded. Many apps that use Firewire are quite outdated, so what you are doing (capturing video from old camcorders) can some effort - but this card is the least of your problems.

I'm so glad I was able to get this. I found an old camcorder and was desperate to find a way to connect it to my PC to digitize the memories contained on the tapes. This was a lifesaver, and now I have video of my mom who is no longer with us on YouTube where I can watch it any time I want.

Installed on my windows 11 PC. device recognized and no additional drivers were needed. I used it to transfer videos from my MiniDV camcorder to PC using WinDV. Works flawlessly.

Using this to convert several Hi8 and Digital8 videotapes. The camcorder I'm using is the Sony DVR-TRV350 along with the WinDV utility that can be downloaded. Saving the files at the highest quality type-2 AVI it produces a total of about 25GB files for a 120 minute Hi8 and 12.5GB for a 60 minute Digital8 tape. Computer is i7 from 2014 runs window10 handles it fine. Reboot the computer a couple of times if WinDV does not recognize the camcorder and try a different cable. I had this issue the first time I tried it.

After troubleshooting with two different operating systems, I bought a new firewire cable and got this working. The original cable didn't work. I used it to transfer miniDV tapes to files using WinDV and a camcorder off of EBay.

I bought this capture card after reading most positive reviews, to save some old memories from my DV camcorder tapes, it installed very easy on my windows 11 fast machine, it was recognized with no problems no need to download driver, windows automatically took care of it, i plugged in the camcorder via the cable that came with it, and opened my favorite program Vegas 18, to capture videos, I can see the video in the program and start capturing, but every 10 seconds or so sometimes 2 seconds, it gets disconnected for no apparent reason, I had to unplug and plug the cable to start recording again, but again it kept losing connection every couple seconds, I did hours of agonizing research online, I unnstalled, and reinstall the part, tried different programs, with no avail, I almost gave up, then I thought to change the cable as a last thing, luckily a new cable solved the problem, the cable that came with it was defective but not totally I wish it was totally defective, I would've changed it right away, now with the new good cable it works perfect, without the defective cable I would've gave it 5 stars, so always check the cable first.

I was not pleased with the 2- foot cable, I had to lay on the floor with my camera in order to connect and use. No documentation came with the box/card. The box was labeled wrong also it said a PCI card not IEEE 1394 Controller card. The install was easy, no issues with that. My ASUS Z170A MB (2016 build), and Windows 10 PRO sees the card in Hardware Manager, as well as the Camera when I turn the camera power ON. When I open Adobe Premier (2021 Version), it does not see the Camera. Neither does my other software from MS. The drivers I used were both the driver that came with the card, and I tried Legacy Driver, no go with either. When a company says that their card works with Windows 10, then they had damn well better be sure by checking that themselves in their lab, don't make blank statement to sell a product. I am returning the card to Amazon and trying a LinksTek card. Hopefully this card will do as it says.

For what I was using it for (audio interface) it works surprisingly well, and gave me very little issue with connection.There was a slight issue regarding software, but that was most likely according but in the software i was using and not the device itself, so I'm not gonna coun that against it.
