The jacket is definitely lightweight and packable and does a great job at cutting the wind. It's perfect for those breezy bike rides and does offer decent protection in light rain. The two-way zipper is a nice feature, giving you a bit of extra ventilation if needed. The only downside is that the fit is a bit snug-so I ended up passing this along to my older but petite teenage daughter to keep in her backpack. If you prefer a more relaxed or layered fit, you might want to consider sizing up.

I’m really not sure what purpose this jacket is for, but it’s literally paper thin. Unless you’re wearing it on a day that isn’t windy or cold, you’re going to be uncomfortable in this. And it is water repellent, but not waterproof.I usually wear mediums (or large if something has no stretch) and I saw another review saying they run small so I got an XL, and honestly this wouldn’t have fit except that I got the larger size, so definitely size up.All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this unless you just like the style of it and don’t need it for wind breaking.

Is there a better jacket? Absolutely not! This is a very light weight jacket, built to block the wind. It is easy to carry in the back of your jersey by just simply rolling it up. The bright color will keep you safe while riding and keep you visible to cars, animals, other cyclist, and anyone else who needs to find you in the wilderness! As a road cyclist, this is extremely important to me because I ride around cars frequently. The material is soft to the touch yet strong enough to fight off the wind. This keeps you very warm, as warm as a windbreaker can keep you. Keep in mind this does not have a liner so it is not meant to keep you warm when you're stopped but to keep you cool and breathe while you're moving yet blocking out the wind so you retain body heat. This is a quality product made of exceptional materials and workmanship. The shape and fit of the item is very snug, so if you are worried about sizing, I definitely recommend sizing up.

As a runner, I'm well-acquainted with the Pearl Izumi brand, and I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed with this jacket. It's paper-thin. No pockets or any type of storage. Very small amount of ventilation. And the first time I tried to zip it up, the zipper got dangerously stuck! (Yes, I got it unstuck, but the material is so thin, I was seriously afraid I was going to rip the jacket in the process.) Huge disappointment.

When you see this shell in its packaging, the first thing that strikes you is the color. It's not quite neon orange but almost. If the material were not a slight amount transparent it would be bubble gum red but the shimmer of the material gives it a more pink lipstick shade. The inside is more shiny than the outside and looks as if it has some sort of applied waterproofing finish. Fiery coral is a good description of the color. The overall impression is of extreme lightness. The fabric is very sheer. You could roll this up in your back pack ready for a downpour and pay almost no cost in terms of extra weight. Each of the hems and seams are very neatly executed. All the more surprising since the fabric is so lightweight that the seamtresses or seamsters would have had to work very diligently to keep everything so neat and tidy. It is a marvel of sewing. My wife is a professional hiker and leads trips all over the World, so this garment will see a few countries very soon. I am sure it will admired in many languages. In English it's "Wow look at that!"

So easy to pack this away on a ride and pull it out when it gets cold. Th jacket is the perfect color for safety, light for cool weather and keeps the wind and dew off your back. The zippers are a great quality and don't get stuck like some others. Spend the money if you can and opt for the quality likeI did. Nothing is more important than being comfortable on your ride.

Sizing:This jacket has form fit, that's a bit tapered. Compared to the size chart, the jacket we were sent is within the sizing range listed for this size.Since this jacket doesn't have a lot of give to it, we would suggest ordering according to the size chart.Fit:Form fit, taperedMaterial thickness:My girlfriend described the material thickness of this jacket as "the thinnest material you can get away with in a rain jacket".Durability:While the material used for this jacket is ultra thin, this jacket is quite durable. My girlfriend and I both own this jacket, neither one of use are very careful with this model of rain jacket, yet both of our jackets still look new.Effectiveness:We both feel this jacket is best for days where rain is intermittent, or slow, and steady. On days like that, this jacket performs very well, and we both stay dry.On the other hand, when it pours, this is not the jacket you want to be wearing because rain will eventually make it through.Temperature range:While this jacket is really thin, it's a moderately effective wind breaker, in addition to being a good layer for rain. This jacket is generally sufficient for temperatures ranging from high 50s - high 60s.Packable:You can easily remove this jacket while riding. This jacket will fit in either of your rear size pockets in a pinch, but the middle pocket will be best for storage.Bottom line:This is a good option for intermittent, to slow, steady rain. This is also a good option for wind, cool days.4 stars
