Your cart is empty.Our preferences for chain lube, both road, and mountain, tend to favor the wax variety if conditions are favorable. Of course, local climate and terrain can certainly dictate what lube works best for you, but if the conditions are dry, the cleanliness and drivetrain efficiency of a chain lubed with a wax-based lubricant is hard to beat. We've gotten in a few rides with Pedro's new lube and we've got to say that it delivers another winner with its Slick Wax Chain Lube. The lube is formulated with CleanTech chemistry, Pedro speak for blending advanced wax and polymer technologies for maximum cleanliness and efficiency in dry and dusty conditions. We found this lube let our chains run very quietly, helped improve shifting, and was fairly long-lasting even repealing some light splashing. As a bonus, Pedro uses safe plant-based ingredients in a quick-drying alcohol carrier. Because it's so quick to dry, you can apply Slick Wax right before a ride and be good to go, no need to wait like with other slow-drying carriers.

Have used a previous version of Pedro's Ice Wax for years. This works just as well.

When I was riding bikes in the 1980s, chain lubricants were limited; however, today there are a lot more options. Chain lubricants in the 80s tended to be too heavy and too thick for dry and dusty conditions. To overcome this problem, I would remove the chain, clean the chain, melt some paraffin, and dip the chain in the liquid paraffin. This method of lubricating the chain was obviously labor intensive, but it was a solution to keep the drive train clean! When I saw this product, I was very excited to try it out! When I applied Pedro's Slick Wax Chain Lube to the chain, it dried almost instantly on the chain and left a waxy film. It reminded me of my paraffin days lubricating the chain. As advertised when I was riding, the lubricant did not collect dirt on the chain or drive train; however, like the paraffin, it did not last very long. After I rode about 50 miles, the chain/drive train started to make noise (dry), and the shifting was not smooth. I needed to reapply Slick Wax to the chain. It is a good product, but for my application, some other lubricates are a better option.

Not very clean as stated, leaves black build up easily. Bring back Ice Wax Original Formula!
