I purchased this case just over 1 year ago today. I had been looking for a case that would not only safely store my kindle fire, but protect it from being crushed while in my backpack. I had read in another review that the case fit the kindle fire, but still allowed the device to bounce or slide around inside. I ordered the Pelican 1055CC along with a QUBITS Tpu Gel Skin case to add a little thickness to my kindle fire so that it would fit more snugly. Once I received the Pelican case, I tested to see if the gel skin case added enough thickness to keep the kindle from sliding around, but it didn't. I then added a microfiber cleaning cloth inside the case and barely moves around inside. Even if the bare device were to slide around freely, this would not be an issue. The liner is padded on all sides and the device would not be damaged.I also tested to see if the case was waterproof by dunking it under the sink for about 30 seconds. After drying the outside of the case and opening it, I noticed that it was damp on one side. I then tried squeezing the air out of the case through the check valve so that the negative pressure would keep the gasket sealed tight. This looked promising, but the pressure equalized after about a minute and I could start to see the gaps on the side of the case widen. I think the problem might be the gasket itself as it seems to look closer to foam than rubber or silicon. Even though my case is not waterproof, it is still not an issue for me.For the first 9 months of use I pretty much stored my case in my backpack, only removing it to use or charge my device. It is always sandwiched between either my fishing tackle, tools, photography equipment, camping gear, or whatever else I am carrying in my pack. The case has been dropped, tossed, squished, and bounced all over my Jeep. I bring it with me fishing, Mountain biking, camping, and pretty much everywhere I go up until 3 months ago. On our most recent road trip to some BLM land to go shooting, we found the gates locked. The trails were closed to vehicles for fire season, so we loaded up our gear, left the truck at the trail head and hiked it in. After I was dropped off at home I had realized that I didn't have my kindle fire. I had removed it to save on some weight and tossed it on the seat of the truck at the trail head. I called my friends and they couldn't find it anywhere in the truck. It either fell out or was taken at the trail head or gas station. I got another Kindle fire earlier this month and was about to order another case for it when I get a call from my friend a week ago telling me that he found it while looking for his glasses. It turns out that it had been wedged underneath his speaker box for the last 3 months. The case is a little scratched up, but the case and the kindle fire are in perfect working condition.If you're looking for a rugged case for your Kindle fire or 7" tablet, the Pelican 1055CC is it. As far as I can tell, there just isn't anything comparable out there for a 7" device. This Pelican laptop case is the most robust effective protection for a 15" laptop (will fit a 13" model also) available, until you get to the $300-ish Halliburton metal cases that are more than twice the bulk and weight of this model.Pro:*waterPROOF. That is, take it in the bathtub, hot tub, or the pool with you. Set it out in the pouring rain overnight. It'll be fine. Triple grommeted, it's rated to immersion at about 6 feet for 60 minutes. I'd believe that. More moisture protection than you'll ever need.*Shockproof (almost): whack the case with a ball-peen hammer? Sure. Why not. You will ding the case, but the lappie will be unaffected, and probably the case will still perform its job. This is a completely rigid case, with very effective foam lining. Bang a wall, a railing, drop a full beer stein on it? Real world events, no worries. Been there and done it.*pressure valve keeps moisture out and stops problems with changing air pressure some hard cases have (pop open or won't open)*pluck-to-fit: my 2011 MBP fits snugly, and so will any 15 or 13 inch laptop, as you choose*TSA often lets it pass through carry-on scanner closed, since it contained ONLY the laptop, and there is no metal in the case (except perhaps the hinge pins). The only case I have ever even SEEN receive this treatment.*I like the look: it looks tough, but not so much like a military transit case as the 1080 model did. Basic black and clean lines.*It slings comfortably.*This case will last as longer as two laptops, on average.Con:*There is a small possibility of the latch inadvertently being flipped open by your belt or another object while running or jumping. I loop a small elastic zip cord through one of the lock-loops (there are two) and that eliminates the remotest chance of that happening. A small travel lock, rubber band, or twist-tie would work also. Remote problem for most users.*This is not so compact as a foam or semi-rigid laptop sleeve. The 1095 will probably not fit inside your carry-on, knapsack, or messenger bag (it does fit in my large TB2 D-Lux)*It is not actually bullet-proof so won't save your life if people shoot real bullets at you (arrows, probably, yes)If you are serious about protecting your prized and valuable laptop from water/liquid, shocks/blows/bangs this case is hard to beat. In its size, it is impossible to beat. There is a reason militaries use Pelican (and quite a few private soldiers for their personal gear). Highly recommended, without reservation.

ペリカンのケースは実用性が高く、かつ堅牢です。迷わず購入しました。購入品は1095（無印）でして、1095CCとは仕様が少し異なります。1095の内装はウレタンフォームでして、内装物の固定が、多少の加工作業で確実にできます。10年以上前のThinkpad-W530(画面寸法15.6in.)という、ガラパゴスにも無い旧型のパソコンを入れます。二度落としてしまい多少筐体が歪んでいます。さて、注文翌日に届きまして（驚き）、早速端末を入れる作業にかかりました。fig-001:底板のウレタンは約10㎜感覚で升目状の切れ目があり、　　　　端末筐体の輪郭に合わせて不要部分を切り取っていきます。　　　　手で簡単に千切れます。ただ切断時に細かな切り屑が出ます。　　　　蓋側は凹凸のウレタンが両面テープで簡単に貼り付けてあります。fig-002:端末を収めました。USBメモリーを挿したままで入れられます。fig-003:うまく嵌まりまして、早速電源を・・・あれ、AC電源が挿せない。　　　　ウレタンフォーム高さがほぼ端末の厚みに近いため、ほぼ　　　　めり込んでしまっていてACアダプタが挿せないのです。　　　　ほぼ完ぺきなほどに嵌まったのに、軽率でありました。fig-004:ACアダプタを挿すには、今時間をかけてくりぬいた床側の　　　　ウレタンフォームをくりぬかずにその表面に端末を置く　　　　しかありません。fig-005:やれやれ。切断した端切れを端末の下に敷いて使いました。　　　　上げ底用のブロックですね。　　　　しかしこれで、ケースから取り出さずに端末を使いたい、　　　　という希望が実現しました。　　　　ところが蓋が閉まらない・・・。図無し：この後、蓋側の凹凸のウレタンを剥がして、蓋を締めた　　　　ところ、うまく収まりました。　　　　剥がさないと蓋が閉まらない。　　　　これってメーカーの保証が　　　　無効になる改造ですよね、多分。【結言】・端末の保護ケースとしては最高の性能を持っています。・使用者は、このケースの使い方を考えて、加工に入るべきです。　家庭内での軽負荷の保護として使うのか（僕です）、　ケースに入れたまま端末を長時間使いたいのか（僕です）、　屋外での重負荷の保護として使うのか（めりこませて完全固定するべき）。・切り取り線が入ったウレタンは、すぐには捨てない方が良いです。【おまけ】・開閉の際のレバー操作は、遊びが殆ど無く、操作は硬く感じます。　開閉の際の音も結構大きな音が出ますが、とても堅牢です。・蓋は１８０°開きます。アタシェケースのような突っ張り棒の　ような内部ストッパーはありません（良い事だと思えます）。・ケースの底側には、４点の足（丸い凸）がありますが、付属の　両面テープ付きゴムを張り付けた方が良いです。　木製のテーブルに傷がつくのを防ぐ為と、ケースを作っている樹脂は　摩擦係数が小さいようで、よく滑ります。・以上の使い方は、最早メーカー保証ができない改造になって　いると思われます。蓋のウレタンを外したらダメですよね。・知る人ぞ知るブランドのペリカンケース。カッコイイです。　買って良かったです。
