I used these or my 3 turtles. If you know about turtles, you know they create alot of sludge and nastiness. This filter will have your water running clear.

Easy to clean so they last if you take care of them. But if you are grossed out to clean them, by all means buy more and switch out. Works great with my filter.

I don't have a Penn-Plax Cascade filter, but I wanted to buy a sponge as a pre-filter for the intake tube of my filter, and the listed specifications made me think that this sponge was a good size for it. The specifications listed here say that the product (not the package) is 5" L x 3" W x 3 " H. The actual dimensions are just over 2" L x just under 1 3/4" W x just under 2" H. Even the package itself is smaller than the given product dimensions! I didn't want to give a rating because I didn't use it for the intended purpose, but I have to give it a rating, so I gave it 3 stars because I wasted my time buying this product because they didn't bother to give accurate specifications in the product listing.
