Waste portion was leaking on my old so time for a new one. Tied to replace the gasket only......FORGET IT! What a pain. The gasket is glued in and impossible to get out without scoring the plastic. Replace the whole thing and get a few hours of your life back. It will last another 10++ years. Connection to my filter was spot on. Had to cut a few pipes to get the old one off installing new one was a breeze. Highly recommend using teflon tape and clear silicone on the treads of the male connection. This will prevent any leaks through the threads. Also make sure you don't over-tighten, it will crack the housing. Work like a charm, very smooth operation and leak free.

Replaced a 29 year old back wash valve with this unit. Appears to be very well made and certainly an improvement in functional features over the old valve unit. Instructions could have been a bit better but the unit itself is well labeled so its sort of obvious what the value handle positions / settings are intended for.

Purchased one of the other cheaper amazon alternatives for this part and went thru two of them as they both leaked horribly bad and were assembled poorly. Decided to spend the extra $25 for the Pentair part and even though it was identical to the others, you could tell it was assembled better and the joints were all sealed much more thoroughly. Installed the new Pentair part and ZERO leaks and works like a charm. Sometimes it pays to just get OEM parts and in this case installing and uninstalling the other units three times was much more of a PIA then just paying $25 extra for this part.

My old valve started leaking last summer. Guy at the pool store suggested replacing the diverter gasket (spider web gasket), so I did. This was a HUGE pain since you have to get 100% of the old gasket out (3 hours and plenty of muriatic acid late), so I recommend replacing the whole valve if you value your time/sanity. This took about 40 minutes to install, only because I had to open the DE filter to re-tighten the bottom valve connection to correct a small leak. If this happens during your install, use a plumbers wrench to tighten the filter gasket, but DON'T over-tighten the valve gasket onto the DE filter. Also, make sure to use thread tape for the three input valves. After a month, the product is working great.

Is this PVC or cardboard? Installed this valve on my Pentair DE filter September 2nd. Everything went together easily, all hand tight on the unions and sealed perfectly. First week of December went outside to water running down the patio. The nuts on both unions have developed multiple cracks and one separated and the fitting pushed out far enough to clear the seal. Amazon was no help it was just past 90 days. Contacted Pentair and their solution was to email me a list of places where I could purchase parts. This unit is molded and glued so the unions can not be changed it would require cutting the old ones off. This would not leave enough pipe on the upper on to glues a new piece on. For what? Another 3 months? Stay away from this thing. Nuts just fell apart.
