The case is worthless. It's not only huge, it's a massive pain to slide the tray of pens out and find a way to force them back in. If you just want the standing tray, then there's no issue aside from how much space it takes up. Press the sides closed and it stands just fine. If you want them to be portable, I suggest a pencil case. The pens all came ready to go, nothing dried out. I've been hearing a lot about pens arriving dried out from multiple companies over the last few months, and these are not giving me that problem. I'm hoping whatever was going on is solved. I can only say for certain that these are fine. They're good for letting and for drawing. It's not that hard to keep a fine line with them for things like drawing. The counterpoint is that you need to add a smidge more pressure on the downstroke for thick lines, but I don't mind that. That simplicity of getting fine control makes things like crosshatching or other shading techniques easy.I've used this kind of pen for a long time and they're always in my purse for playing in my bujo whereever I find the need and time. I love the versitility.

These are great. Out of my large and obscene few hundred dollar calligraphy pen collection, I use these the most. These are my favorite. They are so smooth and easy to write with (and easy to learn with for beginners) and the colors are super vibrant. I ended up buying 12 packs of each individual colors because I use them so much, but this set is great, especially for beginners. The tips hold up pretty well and I like the thickness of what they write. They're finer than my Tombow sets, but they still have a nice depth perception. I have a ton of lyrics and quotes on my instagam in my "calligraphy" highlights and 90% of them were done with these pens if you want a better idea of how they write and how vibrant the colors are. I'm certainly not a pro, I'm just a beginner...but I absolutely love these the best. My Instagram is @TheRinster.

Previous reviews indicated how easy these pens are to get thin and thick pressure. The reviews were spot on. I’m really enjoying how fun it is to letter with these pens and the colors are fantastic - vivid and blendable. Try them. You won’t be disappointed!

I bought this set of the Pentel Brush Sign Pens in 12 colors to use primarily for calligraphy and to a lesser extent in association with drawing and water color painting. For me, the tips are more soft and broad than I prefer. So, then I bought the 10-color set of Tombow Fudenosuke Brush pens - Hard Tip. For me, they work better for calligraphy. Since I now have both sets, my thoughts for a quick comparison: The Pentel colors are a little more vibrant ("brighter"), the brush is softer, and the strokes are thicker, and some of the color bled through my calligraphy practice paper onto the next page (not only onto the back of the page, but also a little on the next right-hand page in the practice book too). The Tombow Fudenosuke hard-tip color pens: a little less "bright," easier for me to use for calligraphy with finer, hard tip, and none of the color bled through to the next page (yes, on the back of that sheet -- but none on the next right-hand page in the calligraphy practice book). Hope this helps.
