I bought these thinking they would speed up the process but it actually slowed me down as I had to chisel the 4x4's down to fit into the bracket. Very much a PITA.

These brackets are heavy duty and well made. I used them to easily add a lean-to onto the side of my barn. Using these brackets made it easy and quicker to put a lean-to on the barn. 4 by 4s fit perfectly into the bracket openings for lean-to's or for a pergola. There are holes in the brackets where you can screw or nail the brackets to the wood so there isn't any movement.
