Replaced old Mallory unit. New Pertronix distributor dropped right in and fired right up.Adjusted timing on 5.7 to 8 degrees initial and 32 total and engine starts up much better.Took boat for test drive and has been working great. Also got rid of that problematicresistor. Full 12 volts going to dist. and coil.Would recommend this product.

Back in the day I have installed 100s of pertronix products all with fantastic results and expected reliability. Later on the old Mallory I had in this particular installation just wasn't working anymore, it was time to see what was new (to me) in the pertronix catalog - this item @ the price @ the time was and is a perfect match, pulled the Mallory out, installed this one and giddy up. check / set base timing and never look back. Easy Peasy.

Installed on my ski boat with 350 SBC. I took a chance on the used but very good condition and was pleasantly surprised with what seemed as a brand new unit.I don't know if all of them are this way but the slot for the oil pump was 90 degrees offset from my last distributor. So pay attention to that if you can't get it to seat all the way down.My engine fired right up and somehow even managed to land the timing perfectly on the first try! I went with the pertronix plug wires and ignition coil as well. Everything was very good quality. I plan to go with the same setup on my other boat.

For the price and the quality this distributor cant be beat. Running this one on my boat and I have a Pertronix on my old Jeep too. Noticeable difference in start up and performance.

Best deal out there for a replacement distributor. If your mechanically inclined and familiar with Small Block Chevy's, you'll have this installed in less than a half hour. That includes installing a new coil and timing the engine. Only has two wires to connect and its pretty straight forward. I replaced a factory electronic ignition on a Volvo Penta 570 (GM 5.7 V-8) with the Prestolite Distributor. The replacement electronic ignition module from Volvo was no longer available. I could have converted the prestolite distributor to a pertronix module, but didn't want throw good money at a dead horse so I decided to go with the complete new distributor for a little more money. Very glad I did. The boat has never ran better. Hope the distributor holds up this way, but for now very happy with it.

Great replacement for the out of date and defunct ignition for my Mercruiser, that's if it came with all the parts. I need to lockout the timing and the bushing was missing from my parts package. It was factory sealed. I've been trying to get a replacement from the manifacturer for months. They either tell me I don't need it (don't tell me what I I need) or it's promised in the mail and doesn't show. One excuse after another. Not enough help, can't get parts, phone ringing off the wall...blah, blah, blah. Well my boating season is shot.

Very easy installation for a moderately experienced diyer. I struggled with timing and ignition issues for two full summers before buying this and boy do I wish I would have just started with this! Installed this spring and I've taken the boat on a week long trip with a lot of long cruises plus about 3-4 afternoon outings since then and it works perfectly. Love it.

Fantastic replacements for my twin 454’s! Surprisingly, I didn’t even have to replace the cam gears. Drop them in, wire them up, set the timing and enjoyed my season!
