Our History
Peter Grimm Headwear was founded on the beaches of Southern California by Peter Grimm Niedermeyer in 1989. He designed and marketed the first ever Lifeguard hat, making it a global icon of beach culture.
We have come a long way from our original lifeguard, now offering a variety of materials, shapes, styles, colors and patterns.

Globally Sourced Materials
Peter Grimm Lifeguard Hats are made from the highest quality of straw found around the world. We use a diverse selection of straw, from Moroccan Straw and Braided Wheat Straw to Stone Washed Palm leaf that offers an extremely soft-hand feel. Whether it’s woven into a beautiful Herringbone design or a seagrass and palm Matt weave, we use only the best materials so your Lifeguard hat will stand the test of time.
Unique Silhouettes & Designs
Everyone is different, which is why we offer several different shapes of lifeguards to fit every different face and head shape. We offer pinched crowns, as well as the very popular cattleman shaped crowns, and various brim lengths. We also offer a variety of patterns and colors to accommodate the masses.
UPF 50+ Sun Protection
One of the foundations that our brand is built upon is Sun Protection. Years of research has proven how dangerous the sun really is, but we can’t let that prevent us from experiencing everything the outdoors has to offer. All of our Lifeguards offer UV Sun Protection, with the majority of them being tested at a UPF 50+ rating, which is the highest possible rating for apparel.

Nice piece of headwear for the summer, well made. My concerns about how it would arrive were unnecessary as someone read the previous posts and the hat came in a box with packing to stop too much movement n transit

The colors, size, overall fit, quality of material, comfort, and look are fantastic! I’ve gotten compliments on this item and I am completely satisfied and even though I had reservations about the style, I love it and I’d recommend this to anyone. I love hats and wanted to shake up my look, here it is! It looks good, something to get used to but when I received more than a half dozen compliments, more from strangers than sympathetic family, I decided to keep it and buy another. Description, photograph, website presentation, and what arrived are the same-size, shape, and color matched expectations.

I am a collector of luxury headwaters. I been eyeing this hat for a long time. I was a lil worried that the hat would come damage. Because of the reviews. But it came came well packed. I love the detail of the hat. I does not feel cheap. The outer straw texture is well made. The inter linen feels real premium. And on the side of the band the running rabbit as the logo. In all a real nice classy spring/summer hat. I will be purchasing some more hats in the future.

I was reluctant to buy a hat that I never tried on and I own Bailey hats and Goorin. This hatIs a home run it has become my favorite spring hat, I put a feather pin in and the compliments roll in. Feels great with a nice cigar and some great cologne on. A serious lady killer.

The first hat came in mangled (2nd and 3rd pics). I sent in for a replacement....I'm pretty sure they tested the second hat's durability by hiring the biggest sumo wrestler to sit on, stomp on it, and punch it...multiple times. Needless to say, it did NOT hold up. (1st and 2nd pics).*Both boxes were in-tact, so it didn't happen in transit.1/5 stars for durability, 10/5 stars for crushability.

Great looking hat and I would have given it a 5 star however when I received it the back of the brim had a crack. Did not have time to return it since I was leaving town for 2 weeks. I really wanted to take it with me on vacation. Can I return it and get a new one?
