The temperament strip is used to mute all the outside strings of a section at once, so that only one string from each note can vibrate at a time. You may need a screw driver to push it between strings.
These 3 rubber wedge mutes are used for more easily muting other strings of this section. One felt mute is designed for the left section.
High quality mute clamp and 1 rubber mute with handle works great on the right section!

Our poor piano went through garage stays and multiple moves before it finally found a home in our new house. Meanwhile it sat there for a couple of years before we finally ordered this kit and worked on tuning it. It took my husband a half a day to get through all the keys because our piano was SO off but it sounds soooo much better. These tools are the first ones we've used that actually work easily and are worth the cost. I definitely recommend them to anyone who has a decent ear... and you can even use apps to get the keys right, etc... SO much easier than it used to be.

I decided to learn how to tune our piano myself to save money on regular tunings. Just did it for the first time today and the kit worked great! The hammer seems to be good quality. I'll have to take another shot at the felt strip next time. It worked for the most part but I had trouble with a few notes (again, first time). Anyway, piano sounds great now. I would recommend.

Tuner is sturdy but no instructions on how to use all the things that come with it. Had to search to figure it out. Still a tremendous savings over hiring a tuner

This kit is exactly what it was advertised as. It's strong, sturdy and preformed exactly as expected. I have never tuned a piano before but I have tuned many stringed instruments and thought I'd give it a try. And it worked great!! The tuning fork was broken when it came, but I didn't need that. All the other pieces - the dampers and felt strip and tuning key worked great. I love the case that keeps all the equipment together. Thank you.

I bought an older piano and it was severely out of tune. I watched a couple videos on YouTube to get a handle on how to tune a piano. It was all pretty straightforward. I ordered this piano tuning kit and it was surprisingly easy. The wrench seems very sturdy and I also used the red felt strip to mute the strings, which worked well. I would recommend this kit to any DIY people out there.

I've never attempted to tune a piano before - never thought about it, but needed to find out since a friend bought an old one badly out of tune and couldn't afford a few hundred to get it done. I may not have done it perfectly, but it's plenty good enough to learn on and would have been next to impossible without this kit (or one better?). I don't know of one better, never have done this, but more than satisfied with the kit and don't regret buying it. Being an old piano, it needed retuning after a few days, but no fault of the kit and retuning was a breeze. STILL glad to have it and STILL satisfied...

I'm a professional piano tuner (25 years) and I bought this kit because I wanted to know what the quality was. For the inexpensive price it's surprisingly sturdy. The main concern is the tuning lever. It's rather heavy but the tip fits on the pins nicely and it's even removable so you could upgrade the tip if you'd like but for the DIYer it's fine. If you want to take a whack at tuning your own piano this kit would fit your needs.
