Griffin Wood Snare Drums

Productive Wood Drum Shell Manufacturing and Testing

All of our drum shells are manufactured from hand picked quality poplar wood panels. The wood mill cuts and delivers to our factory proper sizes for our shells by a computer-controlled saw. After the gluing, rolling, drying, and sanding process, the drum shells are checked for a level check, and measured for accuracy at a 15% sample rate. Next, the laminate wrap is applied, and holes are drilled into the shell for hardware, and sands down the edges of the shell for snare beds. Next, all hardware, drum heads, and snare wires are assembled to the drum shells. Finally, before packaging and shipping to our warehouse distribution location, our quality control technician visually inspects all the drums, and does a performance sound test with a 5% sample rate. Once the testing and inspections passes our standards, the finished production ships direct to our loading dock, where our sound technicians perform yet another & final sound test before we enter the inventory as ready to be fulfilled.

Additionally, it allows us to act quickly and communicate efficiently with our factories production manager on when we see a need for improvement. Before and after each batch run from the factory, our instruments are tested to confirm the quality, pitch and sound specs remain consistent from our previous production orders.

I thought the qualitu for the price was amazing. though I am not a drummer and was looking for something for a four yr.old. The review on the toy drums for a ten dollar difference didn't make sence to me.So I'm glad I went with this one who knows maybe a drummer will be born.At least I know it will last and they come from a family of musicians

For the most part, I love it. Never played or have ever owned a piccolo snare, but I talked about having one for years. For the cost and changing the heads, throwing on a new snare. It sounds amazing now. My biggest complaint is with the throw for the snare being a bit touchy on saving your position for the snare. I have the bolts cranked, and it holds for a while, but eventually slips out of its preferred setting. Otherwise for the price it works well. I used an Evans snare hardware replacement kit to replace the snare, and bottom head, and put a hydraulic Evans head on the top. Sounds amazing when you tweak it, but definitely needs some attention out of the box. Almost necessity to replace the stock head, it'll get you by, but the sound gets so much better with a new top head alone.

Having used pic- snares, on other Kats drums sets, diversity is the key. These are single ply snare(s), but to my amazement they had a warmth and feel (also affordable). Like multi layer drums. I was ready for. Mediocrity, and received a LOOK-NO-FURTHER SNARE. LADIES AND GENTS I think you will stay on the high side of 55 with this one.......... Many TX Donnie P

the snare makes the sound and because the original snare was like 5 string snare it sounded like a trash can. I had to replace the snare and it costed an additional 30 bucks. So add that amount onto the cost and it comes to 80.00 dollars v/s 50.00 respectively. The heads are ok.. I like the drum, its just cheaply constructed unless you wanna use it for a toy drumset, you would have to add your own flavor to jazz up the sound.

I was asked by the company to write a review. I bought two of these snare drums, and they arrived together, but different colors. Secondly the hardware is not very good. The throw off for the snares has a tiny little bit/screw that fell out immediately when I was trying to tune the drum. Then a few hours later it fell out again while playing the drum. (On BOTH drums), and I’ve now lost both pieces and the drums are unusable.
