Instant improvement in sound, and I no longer have to wipe thick dust off my strings every session. I have to use natural rosins, and I did not know that Pirastro only uses natural rosin ingredients, so I avoided this rosin for awhile. Then I was searching on their site for strings, and came across their rosin recommendations section. Turns out they recommend this rosin for both my specific strings, and also for use with an electric cello I was about to purchase. So I figured why not, and I am so happy I did! Smoothest playing experience I have ever had—truly a whole new level for my playing. If you are at a point where you are wondering if it’s you or the instrument that’s limiting your playing abilities, then definitely give this rosin a try.

I can tell the difference between this rosin and cheaper/common dark cello rosin. It is worth it to get this modestly priced rosin, which will last a long time (and is very pretty!). I was pretty sure that my bow would have to be re-haired to get an even tone, but this rosin restored it to adequate (I'm very much an amateur, but the difference was obvious). Highly recommended.

My son is in high school orchestra-- and not the most careful person in the world. He has dropped this on a hard floor and shattered it more times than I can count. The box dilapidated and did not last. I have ended up putting this new one in a little container with a lid (like the kind used for food storage) which has helped a lot. Otherwise, this rosin works great!

This rosin is absolutely amazing. It’s very easy to use, and although I know pirastro is a brand well known by most cellist, this rosin is a great value, and a very smart purchase for beginners. You should never underestimate the importance of good rosin.

Love this rosin. Great bang for the buck. Great sound. Nice grip without being too grippy. I’ve tried the $30 and $70 rosin and I keep coming back to this one. It can get powdery and leave quite a bit of residue on the strings, but it does not gunk up the strings as fast so it’s easy to clean off the strings. I still have to use rubbing alcohol to get thorough clean from time to time, but not nearly as often as the softer rosin. .

It is a good darker rosin for a beginner and produces a rich sound. A little does go a long way.
