Wiring Diagram

What Is A Capacitor?

A capacitor is a passive two terminal electrical component (a component that consumes but does not produce energy). In building a sound system for your car, you would want to use a capacitor for a couple of different reasons.

Why Do I need One?

The main reason a capacitor is recommended is for power reserve. The capacitor stores energy and releases it very quickly to the amplifier(s). How does this help? It’s very simple: Music is dynamic, no matter what type you listen to. The dynamics in musical content can very quickly transition from soft voices to thundering bass notes. These moments are where the benefit of having a capacitor is heard. The amplifier requires a constant amount of steady power to function efficiently and power the speakers. A capacitor will keep the power going to the amplifier consistent and stabilized, which means a better sounding system. Important: The remote output of the head unit is connected to the remote turn on of the capacitor. The capacitor will not function if the remote wire is not connected to your head unit.

Charging The Capacitor
Charging The Capacitor

First, make sure that all the connections according to the diagrams in the instruction manual are correct. Pick up the cable coming from the positive (+) battery terminal. Place the supplied charging resistor between the end of this cable and the positive terminal of the capacitor. The capacitor will begin charging. Charging generally takes five to 60 seconds. During charging, the voltage shown in the three digit display will rise rapidly, then slow as it approaches the voltage of your vehicle’s battery. When fully charged, the display voltage will stop rising. If you have a voltmeter, you can first measure the voltage of your car battery. Then you will know with accuracy that the capacitor is fully charged. Caution: During charging, the resistor will become hot. This is normal, but exercise caution during the charging process. After charging is complete, remove the resistor from the incoming positive cable, and immediately connect it to the positive terminal of the capacitor.

Tenía un amplificador que se estaba protegiendo porque el voltaje bajaba mucho, con este capacitor he resuelto el problema. Lo recomiendo al 100%

11/6/23 Quality is good, the size is nice, Bright and flashy l have one of their amps so definitely goes well with it as far as lighting. 10 Frag? I'm going with nah but close and if sized properly. Sound quality I did end up with a little feed back after the install and I'm push it to what I believe to be it's limits but i haven't gone after everything with my meter yet but it's small and I'm pretty confident that it's something else.If it turns out to be I will come back and update.

As of now I cannot say what I dislike about this product. I just ordered it. I have amateur radio training and have worked with capacitors a lot! I think a lot of the negatives on here are from people not hooking these up right because not only in theory but in fact they do work. Not as much as a battery in your trunk but they do work! Charging them is the secret. And also knowing how to discharge them properly! Most of the time if you have problems with these a simple discharge will fix the problem. I have one ohm 12-in Skat Audio sub coming in tomorrow and enclosure. Will definitely update tomorrow. They may not be as good as a battery in your trunk. But they do help when properly installed. You can also look up the amplifier I'm using. Directed D.2400. True 1500 w RMS amplifier stable at 1 ohm. Update!! After changing properly. Found out my amp was broke. So. I used my 800 RMS class d Cadence. Cap hasn't dropped under 14 v. Awesome

Spent 4 hours running wires for my sons vehicle charged the farad as recommended and went to tighten and it never tightened. Ground side just kept spinning. Power side did tighten.Does me no good and not sure if I can return as I opened and made connections. This is a bad module that I can't use. Unhappy customer

Used this in my 59 Chevy truck build. 100 watts to 2 12” subs and another 1200 watts to 4 other mids and tweeters. With bass fully turned up there is absolutely no headlight dimming. Works great!

Muy bien capacitor, todo de muy buena calidad solamente le haría falta una protección a las terminales que estarán descubiertas pero instalándolo en un buen lugar en la cajuela no tendrás problemas.

The labeling of the terminals could be better marked
