I had first purchased a really cool looking soap dish for my new shower that had a teak grid the soap rested on. With a few weeks black clumpy stuff started growing on the teak. It was so disgusting.Alternate Plan B -- went with the classic standard soap dish. Highly functional. Comes apart easily for rinsing out. Soap does not stew in its juices but is held up above the bottom of the item. Narrow enough to fit on the shelf of the shower niche. Not ceramic, which if fell in a shower would be a hazardous event. There is something to be said for a classic design. No plastic frogs or little mushrooms painted on, just the real deal. Functional, not breakable and easy to keep looking fresh. Excellent item.

Although this product is large enough to hold a 'regular' bar of soap (e.g. Olay), I find it to be too small, for two reasons. First: When a *flat* bar of soap dries and sticks to the soap dish, this soap dish leaves no room for your fingers to get under the edges of the bar to separate it from the dish. This isn't a problem with curved soap, like Olay. Second: When placing wet soap onto the dish while you have suds all over your fingers, the soap dish isn't large enough to catch the suds and prevent them from running down onto whatever the soap dish is on.

We needed something to replace wood soap dishes that stained grout. These white plastic ones work, you do, however, need to tip them upside down every couple of days to remove liquid in the tray. I found that if this wasn’t done, the water would slowly evaporate and the soap would get gooey. We have a white tiled shower, so these blend in nicely.

I bought a 5oz bar of Dr Bronner’s Castile soap and it’s taken a week or so for the soap to mostly fit in the dish..there still is a little overhang. So for the first week your soap probably won’t fit in dish properly (longer if you get a larger bar of soap). If you look closely you can see a little “ overhang on the right corner. It’s easy to clean off/ out..doesn’t really look like plastic. Overall, happy with it.

This soap dish is small and fits in designated shelf of shower. I like the insert which helps keep soap from water damage. I bought one then bought another for our new home ðŸ¡.
