I did replace the carabener on it, the one that came with it isn't very big or strong. Definitely waterproof, kept everything dry.

You had one job.The only metal part in there (rod for the hinge) became totally rusty for no reason after less than a year. The rest of the box seems okay, but c'mon! — Now it looks gross and likely won't open as easily.Update:My boat was underwater, this container was aboard. Salt water has made metal hinges corrode really badly, the corrosion has made the plastic crack, and now it's not even usable. You had one job...

Would not recommend. Water leaked into this item during first time using. Was not even held underwater.
