Picked this up for my niece, and she loves it. loves the little unicorn on top. Functionally, it's very much a microscope. Not a telescope. So don't expect to use it on objects that are a few inches away. it will not focus on it unless its within the close up viewing area. The lights brighten up whatever you're looking at, and you can take pictures to check out later. The screen is surprisingly crisp, but the photos and videos shine on the computer screen once you download them. There's built in storage, but it won't be of any use if you want to record video. Be ready to pickup a memory card.

We got this for our 3 year old granddaughter - her dad has an adult version and they love being outside, so it seemed logical to get her one of her own!Super cute design - purple is her favorite color AND a fun unicorn keeping her company just increases the "love factor" for her.Little bit of a learning curve but more intuitive than her dad's so she is enjoying it!Great way to encourage curiosity and knowledge of the outdoors .....and house plants, fuzzies, weird stuff in the rug, a dog's ear....no limits as far as she's concerned ;-)

I think the design is perfect for little girls, but there was a bit of confusion with this magnifier. In the product description it shows a picture of a kid using the magnifier from afar. This magnifier can not be used from afar like that, it has to be put on a flat surface for it to work. The little glass ball on the bottom can somewhat show it from afar, but the picture looks like the kid is using the main magnifier. Also, the power button is hard to find since it blends in. My 4 year old could not figure out how to turn it on alone.

OMG! This microscope is incredible! My kids are absolutely fascinated by it - they found a dead mosquito and were able to examine every tiny detail of its body. It’s the perfect product to spark curiosity and keep them engaged for hours. The quality is great, and it’s easy to use for little hands. One of the best educational toys I’ve seen - I highly recommend it to all parents!

Very cute microscope for kids. Both my daughter and I have fun looking up close at things around the house. Easy to use. The display screen is a good size and the picture is good quality.

I got this as a gift for my niece. My boys are begging me for one now. It is so neat. The magnification and clarity are insane.

I got this for my 41/2 year old granddaughter and tried to charge it and read the instructions for using it - it is not very easy to use it and even the user manual says that it is complex to use - so I love the idea of this product that is educational and learning and the look of it that is cute and appealing to young kids but I think it is too hard and confusing to use for younger toddlers without supervision.

I really wanted to like this pocket microscope, but I am so disappointed ... it's neither a microscope nor small enough to fit in a pocket. As a professional biologist who has used scanning EM, EM, and various lab microscopes as well as hand lenses for field work, this is just not useful for much of anything. The focus is not adjustable, so you have to place the scope directly ON TOP OF whatever you want to observe. That means your child/grandchild cannot use it to observe most insects, since they will move suddenly or fly away whenever you approach or touch them with the microscope. IMO, this could make this item dangerous for a child to use around wasps and some spiders. To me, it is false advertising to show us a magnified, close-up photo of an ant in the illustrations, because this scope could NOT be used to photograph or focus so clearly on any ant or other tiny insect! It also doesn't work very well for looking at the parts of flowers; you have to place the magnifier directly on top of the flower to see anything, thus obscuring much of the light that enables you to see what you're trying to observe. The photography feature doesn't work either. Several times, I laid the scope directly on top of the letters in the tiny instruction booklet. I was hoping it would help me read the booklet, since the font is so very small (and I have poor vision). I tried taking pix at various levels of magnification (1X vs 4X), but none of the photos showed any portion of what I tried to photograph. All of the microscope photos came out blurry, with bits and pieces of blackish letters shown as distant, partial smudges. I cannot understand why it won't take ANY photos correctly and "as is" the way I took them. Finally, the instructions and features on this pocket microscope are difficult for an adult to understand, much less for a small child to figure out how to operate it properly. All in all, I find this toy to be utterly useless and a waste of money!

This has been a big hit in our home. The magnifier is easy to use as you have a small normal magnifying glass at one end and the lighted digital microscope on the other. The focus is fixed so no adjustments are necessary, making it very easy to use for littler ones. You can also take photos of what you see and store them on the device. If they outgrow the unicorn the silicone outside can easily be removed without impacting the function of the microscope. When we first tried it we didn’t think it was working but it was because we were holding it too far away, once we placed it right on top of the item a clear picture emerged. This digital microscope has been on walk outside, to a variety of stored and school and has been used to check out all sorts of items, even using it on socks is fascinating.

This microscope is a combination of optical and digital magnification and the item being magnified must be very close to the lens in order to be in focus. I have another digital microscope so I knew that this microscope would be similar as well. So, I'm not disappointed that the item being magnified has to be close to the lens.I like that although it has a slot for a memory card, it comes with built in memory so putting in a memory card is not necessary to take pictures of magnified items. I also like that the silicone unicorn covering can be removed in case an adult is using it for more practical reasons. But once the silicone unicorn covering is removed, there really isn't anything to offer extra grip when handling the microscope other than the wrist lanyard. It's a cool toy for kids and can also be used by adults. There are higher magnification microscopes for roughly $10 CAD more (at time of this review) which may be something to look into if considering a digital microscope.Do I recommend this microscope? Yes, but I think the price is a bit high for 200X microscope (currently $32.99 CAD).

Both my kids absolutely love this microscope! (6&8)I was super curious what they would be interested in. This allowed a lot of fun conversations, chances to learn, and extra fun!You can pop in an SD card and take/store a bunch of pictures which is really fun!Overall the battery lasts pretty well and the quality is more than I was expecting! I have tried another one before and it had a much more grainy photo so this was such a nice surprise to see the higher quality!

Originally got this for my 4 yr old daughter and found that my 9 yr old son enjoys playing with it as well. The size is perfect for little hands and the unicorn design is perfect for my daughter. It's very good quality, lightweight yet sturdy and durable if that makes sense. The quality of the imaging is great and I love how you can take images and display them on your computer. I also love that it comes with a charger so no batteries are needed. I also love that it has a light. It can be used outdoors and indoors and is easy to carry with you because of its compact design. This is such a great learning tool and inspires children to be curious and explore the world around them. Perfect for schools and daycares too!

Took a bit to figure out but once it gets into focus it works really well and it's easy to use. Just trying to focus on the thing your trying to see can be a bit difficult if it's really zoomed in. But very fun to use.
