So basically it's insurance if you deal with a safety inspector or any sort of highway patrol or DOT checks. It's a non arguable SAE measurement. Most shoes have to be 1/4" this is the ultimate for showing your boss a go or no go gauge on brakes. Covers you, covers your boss and I'm pretty sure the bottom pegs are for drums wear which is also neat, especially in rust belt where you get the fat rust lip. Anywho, the absolute best thing. They have other ones for brake throw too, a few guys in my shop have different variations of this. All solid. Stay away from the percent ones, they just line up with these measurements and Metric. So yeah, truck and heavy duty brakes it's great. Cheers .

Great tool for exact measurements on breaks and drums. Numbers are large enough to see and tool fits into your shirt pocket.

Works as intended, very sturdy. Good for getting an accurate measurement with the drum lip. I appreciate the scale on both sides.
