I take my two young kids to Free Forest School year round. I was skeptical if these would come in handy and I have been very pleasantly surprised. The material is durable enough that we haven't any holes - and trust me my kids are NOT easy on anything. Also, I defer to these over merino wool gloves most times because there is not a lot of material so they have a lot more ability to grip and hold the things they want to (read sticks and rocks) without trouble. Additionally, their little mitts are still mostly warm by the end of being out in the elements (read streams, mud, dirt you name it) for a good 2.5 hours. I intend to put the merino gloves under these in snow, but so far in 40 degrees F. these are really great and have been very useful.

We have been having a wet Alaskan winter and regular gloves just get soaked. These have been a life saver with an insulating pair underneath and these over. No more glove changes and hands stay warm and dry! I wish they made some for kids older than 6 though.

Large for my 1 and half year old but helps when he touches everything. He is able to grip rocks to throw in puddles
