It pumps, but does take a lot to get it primed and moving. Also. It only pumps on an upward stroke, so its super difficult to move a lot of liquid. It is a full on arm workout. I dont really like that type of motion for pumping. I feel like the handle is pretty flimsy, for the amount of effort used to pump.
