I was planning on using this 1 inch thick foam for sound deadening in my office. To do so, I'll need to use double-sided tape. I do not plan on cutting the foam, but I have noted that this is an open cell foam that's very light and "squishy". I've seen this type of foam used in multiple uses, including the pick-n-pluck style used in containers. This is just a simple 12 inch wide by 16 inch long by 1 inch height foam. Because it is on the softer side I do not think I will use it for packaging or for tools as the lighter density would not hold up well to heavier tools.

I got these to use for 3D artwork. They are not the advertised size of 16 x 12 x 1 inch. Simple as that. Maybe 1/2 inch thick. I didn't bother checking yet as I had to go find the correct size for my job.
