This touchstone is specially designed for professional jewelers and enthusiasts to determine the appropriate gold carat number and identify precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. This touchstone should be used with test acid solution and test needle (not included).

How to use: Put a drop of test gold on your jewelry sample, the real gold will stay on the touchstone, and the fake gold will dissolve or oxidize to blue. The acid changes color according to purity. Very easy to use.

My other stones are smooth and easy to use. This one when scratched brings up little chunks of the stone and makes it not impossible but not trustworthy on results since the bigger the scratch the clumpier it becomes. So grainy makes no sense
