Once we started hearing how bad microwave popcorn can be for you we decided to switch. We had tried an air popper but I did not like it. My husband wanted one similar to one at the movie theaters but space is somewhat of a challenge in our kitchen. I found the Pop Pup, read the reviews and decided that we should try it. I am happy to say that we are not in the least disappointed. First and foremost it produces excellent popcorn. I purchased Snappy Popcorn Supplies, Colored Coconut Oil, Gold Medal Prod. 2045 Flavacol Seasoning Popcorn Salt and Arrowhead Mills Organic Whole Yellow Popcorn, turned the Pop Pup into our very own popcorn marvel. My husband would like to add butter but I think that it is fantastic just the way it is. Add to this that the machine is easy to use AND easy to clean and you just can't go wrong.Some of the reviews mentioned the amount of popcorn that the Pop Pup can produce at once is small or not enough. For us, it is the perfect amount. There are usually two or three of us sharing, two adults and one teenager and there has only been one time that we popped a second batch. If you want to pop a large amount at one time then you probably want a bigger machine but for basic snacking of 1-3 people it is perfect and frankly it would be very easy to pop a second or third batch after your first.One of the things that I personally like about this popper is that it is fun, so much so that I look forward to using it. Anything that gives me the motivation to make and have a healthy snack rather than opening up a bag of chips gets five stars in my book..Anything that will motivate that members of my family to do the same deserves far more.You can get the Pop Pup and all you need to make terrific popcorn for under $60. Not joking , bought this when my nephews were two because they were obsessed with popcorn makers at the movies and other places. We have used it for 10 years and it’s still working great. It’s tiny mind you , just enough for a few kids but perfect for movie night. It even got dropped during a move and cracked the side and broke a piece but still functional and working great .

UPDATE!!After 4 years we still use it pretty regularly. Especially since the COVID 19 shelter in place. I would say once a week now. Before maybe once a month. Only one issue really came up. The plastic that holds the handle to the wall cracked and so did part of the wall. From too much tilting and banging to dump out the popcorn. My husband was able to use sugru (a putty that hardens) to fix it. And it works great.I still think flavicol salt is a must. I buy Orville redenbacher kernels and coconut oil from Costco and it’s perfect.I use 3Tbs of coconut oil and 1/8 tsp of flavicol salt (a little goes a long way). I preheat the oil and salt for like 2-3 minutes before I put 1/3 cup of kernals.And the trick to let the machine close the lid works every time. If I don’t do that it will sometimes get stuck.Great machine. I’ll keep it at 4 stars. I think the plastic on the wall with the handle should be sturdier.2016 review:Bit the bullet and bought this lil popper last week after it hung out in my wishlist for a few weeks. Wanted real popcorn! The size is perfect for 2-3 people. Super easy to use. Instead of the prepacked popcorn I bought the Great Northern Coconut oil and the flavicol salt. Those two really makes it taste like theater popcorn. Bought kernels at the local Trader Joes. Looking for another brand.Only reason it's not a 5 is that half the time the lid hinges would get stuck. The popcorn couldn't escape so it would jam up.However after asking a question about this on Amazon someone said to let the machine close the lid. Which it does and it has happened less. So if it's good I'll come back and update the review.Yummy.Oh and the kiddos love it!

I love my Pop Pup so much that after visiting my sister and seeing the popper they had, one of those dome types, and found out it leaked oil, I decided to buy one of these for her and hubby (who eats popcorn every night). They have had for about a month and she sent me a message about how much they love their popcorn machine. I like how it's so easy to use and the popcorn is delicious! I have used the same popcorn and oil they use in the theatres and get movie popcorn at home! You can use whatever kind of oil you like. Each batch takes about a tablespoon of oil and about 1/4 cup of popcorn.

I bought this for personal use. I love popcorn and make it several times a week watching TV. It was smaller than I had thought compared to other poppers. The batches of popcorn that it makes are smaller than I thought it would be. Only 1/3 cup of kernels at a time. I had to make two batches to get the amount of popcorn I like to eat at a time. However, it does work well and the quality of the popcorn is good. As far as cleaning goes, it is a little awkward to do as I had to remove the cooking pot to clean the upper inside and walls of the popper case.

I love this popcorn maker! It was everything I was looking for! I love the handle so you don't touch the hot pot to get the popcorn out. The look of this is adorable. It comes with 2 measuring scoops so you put in the exact amount of oil and popcorn kernels you are supposed to. It was extremely easy to put together! I'm not very savvy with assembly, and it was easy for me. Read the instructions, and it makes the popcorn perfectly. It comes with the trey, which makes it easy to put on salt when it is all done. It also was the exact size I was looking for - I didn't want anything massive. It is perfect for "movie nights" that I do with my kids! I am very happy I chose this one!!!!!!!

It is a neat little machine and works good. I really need the movie theatre size version because our household goes through a lot of popcornCleaning is not that easy and takes a fair amount of time if you do it right.
