I got this because my older checker came with the old time small USB connection (the one that looks kind of wedge shaped), and the plug broke so could not turn it on. This one was "corded", which I thought was an improvement. The white light to check for watermarks I guess works OK. I was not as interested in that because you can usually just hold it up to whatever closest light source is around you and see that. The old one had 2 UV LED lights on top that were very bright. This one is so weak you can hardly see any of the features on currency you are looking at. PLUS... It is not deep enough. You can't see the whole front or back of the bill at one time. You have to put in the long edge, look at the top half of that side, then flip it 180 to see the bottom of that same side, then turn it over, and do that 2 more times for a total of 4 scans per bill. Why they did not make it deeper is anyone's guess. It is very annoying though!

I HAD BOUGHT 4 OF THESE AND UPON RECEIVING I WENT TO CHECK IF THEY ARE WORKING. BUT OUT OF 4 DETECTORS, THE UV LAMP ON 2 OF THEM WERE NOT WORKING.

I got this item to check bills and found out it has defective cord which is a fire hazard. This is a complete trash.
