This is our second Gecko "cajon" (we have the larger square one as well). This instrument has the same attention to detail and quality materials as the larger model.We like that it's so lightweight and portable that it can be taken just about anywhere, and played by just about anyone.It's a great addition for our band's use, as a vocalist can grab it easily to add some alt percussion.Depending on where you hit it - and how - a wide variety of sounds can be created. The tone can be bright and lively, to deeper and a bit more rich, and clearly audible.The quality is outstanding - definitely made to last, with a smooth finish and lovely wood.

I don't know if this is really a "cajon", but it does produce a nice range of sounds that could be theoretically mapped the same way. Great little portable drum for keeping in a backpack while traveling, in a music corner for home jams, or just as a nice little accessory percussion instrument in the studio. It's about the size of a tambourine, and feels pretty robust and durable. Give it a try, why not?

When I think of a cajon, I think of the wood boxes you sit on and beat the sides of. This is hand-held, more like a tambourine, but you can make really cool sounds by tapping, knocking and shaking it. You have to get used to it a bit before the shaker sounds right, but this adds a nice rhythm piece to my setup.

Yes indeed! Ever been around the musically inclined as they just start up making music? Maybe you're that person?Happens all the time around here. Maybe you just like banging on things while a song is playing. Maybe you've stumbled into a drum circle (does this happen...how do I find that?). Regardless of whether you used to use pens tap on your desk in middle school, or you're just a person that can't help but tap, bang, or knock out a beat...this is a great compact way to release your musical energy. it is however...an actual instrument that is a fantastic addition to other percussion instruments. My point is...you don't need to actually be a musician to enjoy this Cajon. Be fun. You only live once.

I got this to add to my collection of percussion instruments. It looks great and has very good sound. The two sides give slightly different cajon-like sounds. The description says it can be used a maraca, but I think it's a bit cumbersome for that. It sounds more like an ocean drum than a maraca, and it's too big to use as a shaker. But it's great for playing between the knees as a cajon. The internal beads give a nice little sizzle effect. The description says it has little holes in the sides, but the one I got didn't have those and I'm sure they are not needed, as it sounds awesome without them. There are two textured pads on the sides to help hold it between the knees, which is a great feature. It has a nice velvety carrying bag, and it's a good size to carry around for small gigs.

I like this little cajon! It has surprisingly good tones and they're different on either side. It's loaded withenough beads to actually make it a shaker as well. They bounce around, or roll around depending on howone holds and plays the cajon.The sounds are pretty rich played open and there is good pitch variation from rim to center. (think bongo)The fit and finish are great! It has hook & loop fastenings on opposing edges that provide a non-slip surface and comes in a drawstring, carry pouch.Fun little cajon! Hope this helps!

We like to have drum circles whenever we go camping or have people over and after seeing this drum I decided to add it to the mix. I really like the sizzle beads inside the drum. They add a really nice effect. Each side of the drum has a different pitch of sound. The drum is not very loud, depending somewhat on how hard you tap it. I can’t see it being a nuisance under normal use scenarios. It is very well constructing and looks great on a shelf or table. The wood used is very aesthetically pleasing. It also comes with a soft carrying pouch. For this quality the price seems reasonable.

Perfect for on the go or studio use. Sizzle beads add exactly that little something extra to diversify sound and add depth. It's small, lightweight, yet has wonderful resonance. I have a couple other Gecko instruments and each continues to impress, just as this Cajon does.

まず、パッケージを開いて中に収納されている楽器を取り出すとパッと見でこれが楽器であるとはすぐには思わない。上にサボテンを飾っても良い感じがする小洒落た円形の木箱のようだ。静かに傾けると海の波に似た音が聴こえる。むかしの音響効果で海の波の音を作るときは小豆をざるの上で転がして音を出したという。この時点でこれは楽器なのだと気づく。ボディを眺めると作り込みがしっかりとしているので驚く。素材の木の部分に汚れや傷が付かないように全体にマットなラミネート蒸着加工が施されているので耐摩擦性や防水性があり多少ラフに使っても大丈夫だ。ヤモリのロゴにレコード盤のイラストのデザインも良い。ボディの両サイドにベルクロが貼ってあるのは、演奏する時に両膝で挟んだ時に滑らないようにするための工夫。細かいところまで考えて作ってある。楽器を収納するベルベットのポーチも色が良くしっかり縫ってある。Youtubeチャンネルではこの楽器のメーカーGECKOの職人達が一生懸命楽器を作っているメイキングが観られる。これは旅のお供に最適だ。カラオケに持っていって拍子を取るのも良いかも知れない。これなら老若男女問わず誰にでもお薦めできる。上級者ならではのテクニックはあるが、難しいルールを憶える必要はないし、誰にでも始められすぐに楽しめる。いつも携帯して隙あらば楽しむ。といった新しいライフスタイルが考えられる。商品動画にあるようにリラックスして無心で叩けばノリノリで楽しめる。レビューするために少し叩くつもりだったのが気がつくと何時間も叩き続けていた。ノッてくると手が独りでに動き出す。無意識の中でリズムを取っている。詠春拳の稽古でもそうだったが頭では認識していないのに腕が勝手に動き出すので驚く。腕は完全にリラックスしていてインパクトの手の部分にだけバチンと力が入って良い音が出る。このような「放鬆（脱力）」や「無私無欲」になれるのは、仕事や日常生活で頭脳をフル回転して生きている現代人にとって大切なひとときだ。最近、車で移動中に信号待ちの時に音楽を聴きながらハンドルを手でドカドカ叩いてリズムを取ってノリにノッていたので、この商品のレビュー依頼が来たのは渡りに船だった。まず、この商品の動画のデモを観た時に、むかしパリのクリニャンクールの蚤の市でカリンバを買ったのを思い出した。それはオルゴールのような楽器だけどオルゴールのような複雑な機構は無く櫛歯を指で弾いて音を奏でる素朴な楽器だった。そこでこの楽器のメーカーGECKOの公式サイトを観てみたら案の定カリンバをメイン楽器として売っていたのでやっぱりと思った。でもカホンという楽器は知らなかった。「CAJON」と綴って「カホン」と読むのだからきっとラテンでしかもスペイン語圏の中南米だろうと思ったら、その通りだった。これはペルーの楽器であり、昔連れてこられた黒人奴隷がその辺にある家具の引き出しや箱を叩いて楽器の代わりに使ったのが始まりだという。だからcajónとはスペイン語で「引き出し」を意味するのだそうだ。個人的にはいかにも音楽家を気取っているような大げさで主張の強い楽器は好きではなかったので、こういったその辺にあるものを再利用した控えめでミニマリストな楽器はとても好感が持てる。最近、昨年始めに起きた能登半島地震の現在をニュースで観たが、倒壊した家屋はすべて撤去されて、それを観ていた被災者達は皆泣いていたという。家屋には人生の思い出や未来への希望が詰まっているからだろう。ならば、その家屋や家具の材木を利用してカホンを作ったらどうだろうか？自分の愛着のある家や家具が倒壊しても楽器として生まれ変わって手元に残れば喪失感は少しは和らぐだろうし、その楽器を奏でる時には、内なる魂を研ぎ澄ます無執着の状態に入り、その経験は、カホンという外的な手がかりに基づいて意志の性質つまり復旧や復興を私たちに「思い出させる」。アマゾンのふるさと納税などで売って売上金を被災者に寄付するというのも良いアイデアだと思う。

カホンとはスペイン語で「箱」を意味するようです。私の中のイメージも箱型のカホンの上に座った人が叩いているというイメージでした。こちらは太ももに挟んで使うタイプのようでサイドにグリップする滑り止めがついています。商品紹介ページの動画にあるようなものすごい演奏ができたら めちゃくちゃかっこいいと思い 注文しましたか、まずは基本的なところから じっくりと始めていかないといい音を鳴らすのをとても難しいです。どこにでも持って行けるサイズでインテリアとして飾るだけでもデザインや 質感がとても良いので目につくところに置いておいて 毎日少しずつ触っています。クオリティが とにかく高いので触れているだけで気分が上がってきます。

ポータブルカホンと書かれているのですが、形状的に想定はしていた通りかなりタンバリンです。カホンと言えば、簡易的なドラムと私は思っています。ドラムセットを用意できないような場所、しなくてもいいようなカジュアルな場所、でもドラムのようなリズムリードをしてくれる存在が必要なときにカホンは大活躍していると感じています。そのため、カホンに求められるのはドラムが行っている役割を担えるかどうかだと思います。少なくてもドラムは、ハイハット、クラッシュ、スネア、バスドラムの4種類の音は奏でて欲しいなと思うのですが、本製品は最低限の音色も奏で分けることは難しいと感じました。本製品は、円の中央が最も低音で外側になるとやや高音になり、円柱の側面は高音が出ますが全然響きません。降るとマラカスの音が出るので少なくとも4種類は叩き分けれます。因みに両面に音の違いがありますが、叩くのはかなり高難易度です。想定されている叩き方は、手に持って叩くか、膝の間に挟んで叩くかの2種類のように感じましたが、前者は両面の叩き分けに音が感じづらくなり、後者は裏面をテンポを保ちながら叩くのはかなり難しいです。以上の理由から、このカホンは音を分けて叩くことの難易度が高く、本来カホンが担っているリズムリード（ドラム的役割）を担うことが難しいと感じられます。しかし、この楽器をカホンだと思うから難しさを感じるのであって、これをタンバリンだと思うとかなり面白い感覚を得られます。叩き分けが両面合わせて4種類に合わせて、側面の高音、シェイク時のマラカスなど非常に様々な音を奏でられます。多くのタンバリンに備わっているシンバル音はないのですが、太鼓の部分の音色がたくさん欲しい人にとってはサブタンバリンとして活躍することもあるのではないでしょうか。個人的にはカホンを求めていたので、評価は3ですが、タンバリンを求めている人にはいいのかもしれません。値段は楽器であることを踏まえると一概に高い安いと言えないですが、正直高く感じました。

マラカスとカホンが一体化した楽器です。レトロなデザインで、木製で綺麗に仕上げて有り、インテリアとしてもなかなかです。音は木製だけあって柔らかい音色。動画のように上手には叩けませんが、リズムに合わせて適当に叩いてもなかなか楽しいですね。収納用の巾着が付いていました。ポータブルと付いているだけあって、大きさはタンバリンぐらい。気軽に持ち運べるので、カラオケに行くときに持って行くのも良いかもです。
