I live in Tucson, Arizona where many houses used to only have these units on the roof for cooling. We call them Swamp Coolers. They will only work in a low humidity environment or you might as well just buy a big fan. Water runs over the filters, the big fan sucks in warm air and evaporates the water, the temp is lowered up to 25 degrees, and you have nature’s air conditioning, just like you on a hot, sweaty, breezy, desert afternoon!I bought this in July. We were replacing a 16 yo Mobile Mastercool that was made of metal and the doors were rusted out at the bottom.I saw they had these at the local Big Box Hardware Store and I was skeptical because none were on display. I was able to get a better deal here so I gave it a shot.We use the cooler on our patio under our awning. As long as it isn’t monsoon season, it drops the temp a good 25 degrees. The 3-Fan speeds are great and the oscillating feature works great. I’ve told my wife several times to turn it down because I was freezing out on a 90 degree night. The fan is very powerful which helps with the evaporation off the side and back pads.My only complaints are the plastic back panel is a little flimsy and kind of a pain to seat. If you can get the float right, hopefully you are replacing the cardboard panels only once every couple years.Replace the cardboard panels you say. Depending on how hard the water is in your area the panels over time will build up scale on them and will no longer have a good flow for the water and will need to be replaced. I’ll admit I have gone five or more years at a time but it really does work best for airflow if you replace them every couple years. A lot of this does depend on the hardness of the water in your area.My second dislike about this unit is the float. It is a plastic apparatus set up that is positioned in the corner by the side panel. First of all make sure you cut away a little extra of the cardboard so the float can move freely. I have had a very hard time getting the float to stop where I want it to be so I can just leave the hose on. When it is really hot and evaporated quickly if I have the hose bib on a very low flow it often times just fills enough and doesn’t overflow. But once you turn the fan off when you come out in the next morning there will be all kinds of water on the ground around the unit. I’m sure I can fix this I just haven’t wanted to waste an hour and a half trying to get the level perfect. If it starts to overflow I just turn it off for a while. You can tell when it is running low by looking at the float on the front of the unit. I’m sure the manufacture will reply that you should never leave the hose bib on it unattended anyways.Overall I am extremely happy with this unit. I did buy an extended warranty to make sure that the unit would be covered at least for three years. I will give an updated review next year since now it is our fall/winter and we aren’t using the unit again until most likely April.

I bought this for use by the pool in the summers and for our middle school football team on the sideline. Pros:-very light and easy to put in the truck and then wheel to the sideline.-it's much quieter than I expected.-It blows a very solid stream of air.-The wheel locks are an added bonus because the fan is powerful enough that without water in the tank the fan will roll on pavement.-The swing function is nice.Neutral:-I don't know if the AC aspect worked that much better at cooling than just the fan. It was in the 90s and I could not really tell a huge difference with the pump on or off. But the fan was super helpful.Con:-The water tank ran out after about 2 hours.TBD: I haven't used it hooked up to the water hose yet. We have only used the reservoir.Overall, we really like it. It has been a big hit with the players. It's easy to use and to transport.

this thing is AMAZING. it works well, and does exactly what i bought it for... to make my apartment nice and cool!cons: • this thing is f/ing HUGE, BUT that's my fault for just pressing buy and not looking into it.• it takes A LOT of water. (not necessarily a con but because i'm on the 2nd story i have no hose access so i fill it with a 5gallon jug a few times a day depending on how hot it is)• it gets HUMID as f. BUT it's a swamp cooler, and i have 1 window. so placing it on my balcony facing in to blow the cold air into my apartment was the solution! so either make sure you have LOTS of windows or find a place that it works for you!• has a rain smell! idk if it was just mine or what but it smelled like fresh rain when we first started to use it, now idk if it's gone away or we just got used to it but it's not as terrible LOLALL IN ALL this was a good buy! it doesn't run my ac into the ground and saves me a hefty electric bill! i'm happy with my purchase. if noise is annoying to you, it is loud, but honestly i'll take playing my tv a little louder over suffocating in heat!

My partner and I LOVED this swamp cooler. For context, we are renovating a 1970’s house in the mountains of Southern California, which is dry and hot in the summer as it gets the Palm Springs desert heat. I purchased the middle size unit meant for a 950 sq ft location, but used it in a ~500 sq ft open floor plan area with ~15 foot vaulted ceilings, located on the third floor of the house. It worked wonders. Since the house is old, the sun beats on the siding and cooks the inside, but with this we stayed in the upper 70s/low 80s; without it we would easily be hitting 95°. I don’t mind the added humidity, and our indoor temp monitor listed the maximum humidity at around 60%; for me it helps my breathing so I’m fine with that. It was a little noisy, but not nearly as noisy as the portable AC unit I bought. It pushed out so much airflow that the whole floor stayed comfortable. It was a little complicated to fill, as I don’t have the right kind of sink to hook up a hose, but I purchased a dollar water pitcher and it didn’t take much effort to fill it with that. Once the water is halfway used, there is more dripping noise than when it is full. Again, loved the unit and am looking to get another (probably the smaller one) for our downstairs area as it’s far superior to an air conditioning unit which is more costly to run and dries out the air.

It's got some noise and uses a fair amount of water per usage, but overall I am very pleased with how it cools! My only beef is that there is no shut off when the water runs out and therefore cannot be used at night. I wish I had know this and would have purchased the other model.I find the directions are lacking, and they need to be more specific on how it is used for indoors. We didn't realize you needed to use it with an open window and the house got so humid it was like a swamp, LOL! Then I had to do some research online and re-read the minimal instructions before I understood how to use it properly. ;)

It came to me so fast that made me happy. I live in housing and we are not aloud to have air conditioners. So I bought this it keeps me and my kids cool. I fill ot once a day with my hose and turn it off at night. Its so much healthier and more economical then an air conditioner. I will have this for years to come as it is deffinately a quality product. Thank you. I'm all about quality and economical products and this fits both those. From a mom in Canada.
