I was amazed. This welder is light and easy to control for a beginner. I have used it with 1/16 and 5/64th E6013 rods. At lower settings 2 to 3+ and it works great. No blown fuses even though I think 3 is about 60 amps. With the on off switch, it is perfect for beginner, which I am.

Would recommend for home owner for those smaller welding jobs; used for patio table repair, worked as expected; compact design makes for easy storage, would recommend better face shield, holding this one and welding can be difficult

Thank the Lord, I tried this out on the 28th day after purchase and could return for a replacement. Need to weld a nut on a broken exhaust manifold stud to remove it. Plugged in the tool, put a 1/16 Hobart stick in it, grounded it to the manifold (steel, not aluminum), turned it on, fan came on, set it for 4, flipped my visor down and hit the trigger to weld the nut to the broken stud, and nothing. So disappointed based on the reviews where they had a working tool, because this is the perfect sort of application for a portable stick welder like this. In the barn working under the hood of a tractor. Ended up dragging my Mig welder out to finish the job.

Never welded before. My grandson has an electric 4-wheeler that had the front wheel axle come loose from the steering arm. Instead of the warranty replacing it, the company gave me a refund. I bought this welder and never welded before. In 5 minutes, I made a perfect circle around the steering rod. The 4 wheeler has been ridden for over 4 hours and the weld has held so far. It took me longer to grind off the old weld and prep surface for my quick weld job. It paid for itself and I still had money left over from the refund.

I used this for the first time. Although it took a minute to figure it out it worked great. I'd just suggest you buy a good welding helmet and gear. It comes with cheap stuff. I used it on setting 3 with the small rod and was alittle hot but put down a good weld. I'd suggest 2 with the smaller rod.
