Boil potato. Place in smasher....easy to mash as it rices it up. Great for squash too. Easy to clean and big design makes for easy leverage. I am super impressed with how well it functions.

The ricer looks like it will work, but it comes covered in a blue plastic protective wrap where the adhesive holding it on is stronger than the thin plastic. It is a difficult time consuming process to remove the plastic film. I should have just returned it.

This is a nice heavy duty stainless steel ricer. It comes with some blue plastic that you need to remove prior to washing and using but I did that and washed in my dishwasher and it came out great. It's a good quality masher and can be used for many purposes besides ricing/mashing potatoes. The price is most likely fair due to the quality and many purposes of the tool. I like that clean up was easy. Nice product.
