It’s a nice basic trash can. Sturdy enough. I’m not aware of a locking mechanism, but the lid closes tightly and is secure. You could always bungee the lid down by hooking to the handles if you need to. I’m using it for rodent proof food storage. So far so good!

I use this can for a backyard disposal. Very nice coloring. Holds your very well in the sun. Lid closes nicely and the side handles allow for easy moving. Much larger than I expected but I actually like the larger size now that I have been using the can.

I live in the middle of nowhere with a large population of trash pandas. I also feed birds. The racoons have always eaten their way into my outside bird food storage or tipped it over to get to the seeds. Not anymore. They tipped it over on night 1 but the lid didn't come off. The 15lbs of bird food was safe and the trash pandas had to go some neighbors trash down the road. I may add a bungie cord to secure the lid since I know they will return, probably with backup and more destructive ideas. Excellent buy for my needs.

I feed squirrels, chipmunk, rabbits, etc, so this can is ideal place to store my bags of feed before distributing it to the animal feed areas. It keeps the mice and other such pests out.

I needed this steel can to keep the rodents out of my garage where I store bird foodThis is a perfect size for this. And the lid is tight enough so the no critters can open it.
